If you ever have nothing to do on a Sunday afternoon, stop by the International Cottages located in Balboa Park. From noon-4pm the cottages are open for visitors and many offer food for a small donation. Each Sunday a different country hosts the event. There is entertainment and food representing this country, which is usually very well done. This is a great event for both adults and children alike.

Located within Balboa Park, the San Diego Automotive Museum hosts a large number of interesting vehicles, ranging from a slew of motorcycles, cars from the 1920's, and a car with a washing machine, refrigerator, ironing board and much more! I am not big into cars, but I really enjoyed this museum, as did my mother and brother. Give it a shot!

The San Diego airport is one of my favorite to fly in and out of. I have always experienced friendly staff in check in and security. There seems to be few delays. Traffic around the airport is always a big plus. It is easy to navigate and there is rarely much traffic. I definitely prefer the relaxing traveling experience flying in or out of San Diego International, as opposed to the Oakland or San Francisco airports for example.

The Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla displays very modern art. If you are not into canvases painted one color, this might not be the place for you. Some of the other exhibits were interesting, but odd to call art, such as the line of stainless steel garbage cans and tea kettles. The sculpture garden in the back is fun, and the ocean view is spectacular. I have to admit my favorite part of this art museum was the gift shop. They have a great variety of books, cards, and jewelery.

The Birch Aquarium offers some great exhibits, including sharks. In the back of the aquarium are amazing views of the La Jolla shoreline. The price of admission is almost worth it for this alone. Although the aquarium is a little small, it is definitely worth a visit. I would especially recommend this aquarium to families whose children would probably love the place.

The movie theater located within the Price Center at UC San Diego periodically offers $3 which are available to everyone. Typically running on Tuesday and Thursdays, the movies played are usually movies that are no longer in theaters, but not yet available to rent. The theater itself is spacious (often full!) and the crowds are respectful. I would recommend catching a movie at the Price Center to movie buffs and anyone looking for a cheap date!

My Daughter's Wish is the best scrapbooking store I have to be. The store is set up beautifully with lots of examples to look through. Even more importantly, the selection of goodies is amazing! The owner always keeps up with the newest and greatest. The prices are reasonable and the staff very friendly. If you are looking for a scrapbook shop in the Bay Area, My Daughter's Wish is my number one recommendation!

My boyfriend and I took in a free concert at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. When we arrived I was shocked at the number of people there for both the horse races and concert. Parking was not a problem and the price of admission was cheap. However, many people were drunk and smoking. If this is your scene, I would suggest Del Mar Fairgrounds. However, if it is not or you want to bring your family, I would be a little leery.

Seaport Village is a great little place to send a weekend afternoon. There are a bunch of quaint shops, although beware of those selling tourist junk. There are also a bunch of nice restaurants serving a variety of food-sure to please everyone. While nothing spectacular, Seaport Village is a nice place to take a relaxing stroll.
