Ye Olde Book Worm is a small bookstore in Bensenville. I first noticed it from the Metra because it's located right across from the train station.
It reminded me of that movie, "You've Got Mail", because it's a single store competing with behomeths like Borders and Barnes and Noble. It has a special niche because it carries a lot of titles and out of print editions. They can get you a lot of the hard to find titles.
I purchased a couple of children's books because they were at a super discount. It's a cozy atmosphere with a very helpful staff. Last time I checked they were trying to set up a website so that you can order from there. I would recommend that you make a trip to the physical store and experience it yourself.

That's Our Bag is basically a luggage store that sells all kinds of bags including backpacks, handbags, messenger bags, wallets, etc.
Some of their prices were very reasonable such as on Jansport backpacks. I mean you can't expect bargain prices from a store located in Chicago's premier shopping district.
I was looking for a wallet a few months ago and ventured in. They had a lot of high end, hand-crafted wallets with a hefty price tag. I ended up getting one at Marshall Field's on sale.
They do have a good selection. I just felt out of place in here.

Hilligoss Galleries is located in the heart of the Magnificent Mile on Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago. They have a very elegant, upscale design that looks like a museum.
They sell original art work such as paintings, sculptures, and other decorative artwork. It's very well displayed. You feel as if you're walking into a mansion the way it is decorated.
Be prepared to pay top dollar, though. This isn't a shop selling artwork like Ikea. It's for those who know their artists well and are INTO the arts. There were a lot of things I thought would look great in my office, unfortunately my wallet didn't agree.

I have been going to the Caputo's in Hanover Park for the last 4 to 5 years and have not found a better bargain for fruits and vegetables anywhere in the area.
These discount fruit and vegetable markets have come in vogue lately because they offer a wider selection of produce and at much better places. Having been to several of these in the vicinity, I can safely say that Caputo's wins hands down.
They seem to being doing better than the rest also because they have opened a couple more branches in the area.
While some stores may have one or two items on sale, Caputo's wins overall.

Excellent Shoe Repair is in the heart of downtown Chicago, not too far from City Hall. I used their service once to repair a sole on a pair of nice dress shoes. They do a very good job. The materials they use are genuine and not some cheap temporary fix.
The service is good, but they made me a wait a week to get the shoes back. I didn't mind because it's not as if I needed them right away. The price can be hefty, though but people pay it. I saw a lot of businessman coming in for shoe work and alterations.
I would recommend going if you have a pair of shoes that you are really attached to.

My experiences with Downtown Cleaners has been exceptionally positive. I went there a couple times as they were right across the street from Union Station and I would drop some shirts off in the morning and they would have them ready by the time I got off work. the next day. They even have an express service for a little bit extra, They offer alterations and other services that are very useful for those who work downtown and need help in a flash, such as a new button sewed on or some quick stain removal. Very handy when you have a meeting coming up and need to look your best.
Most people have a dry cleaner service near where they live, but having a dry cleaner that is reliable when you are in the area can be very useful.

Matthews Roofing Company has been serving the Chicago area for over 60 years. They are a large company that caters mostly to businesses, especially industrial areas, warehouses, and other commercial ventures. They do residential work as well. My experience with them was when they repaired and replaced the roof of our warehouse.
They are timely and very professional. They charge a competetive rate, but are always open for negotiations. Their quality is first rate. They clean up well after themselves and leave the area spotless.
It helps when you have a good roof on your head and can lower your insurance premiums.

Platinum Salon is located near Stratford Square Mall. The location is huge and always busy. They have two floors. The ground floor is usually for hair cuts, colors, dyes, etc. They are an upscale salon that attracts ritzy clients.
I have had the massage there. It was easy to book a time, didn't get any hassles. The masseuse I had was very talented and professional. I didn't feel uncomfortable at all. They have the spa/massage centers upstairs with pedicures and manicures.
I did get the feeling that it was more of a women's place just by looking at the crowd. Most guys came for hair cuts or with their significant others for a manicure or something. They do offer many services for men so maybe it was just the day that I was there.
Their prices are competitive with other massage and upscale spas in the area. It's a good place to unwind. I got the hot stone massage and thought it improved my back pain and energized me. Then again, it could have been the psychological aspect after getting hot stones placed there!

I have been suffering from back pain for several years now and haven't found much relief. I finally got an MRI and was referred to Dr. Slack by my primary care doctor.
I wasn't sure what to expect and was nervous about surgery. Dr. Slack alleviated my fears. He spoke confidently and was compassionate. He explained my problem to me and gave me a set of options. I think I am on my way to some improvement already.
Doctors can be intimidating and sometimes you wish you would remember to say this or that. Dr. Slack was patient and listened intently. He was sympathetic and made me feel very comfortable.
By the way, he has a beautiful office in downtown Chicago with a great view of Millenium Park.

Meghana Jewelers is a wonderful shop. They carry 22 karat gold, white gold, platinum, indian wedding sets, rings, chains, premium watches, etc.
We used to have to go to the Indian shops in Chicago, but since Meghana opened its doors, we go there. Their prices are very competitive and they carry a good selection of products. Their bread and butter is definitely gold jewelry, but they also have diamonds, rubies, pearls, etc.
They carry fine watches such as Movado, Rado, Tag Heuer, Tissot, Omega, etc. Their prices are usually better than other places in the mall, and the best part is that they are Authorized Dealers. I confirmed it by checking the websites of these fine watches and it listed them.
I would recommend you shop here. You won't need to haggle much for price and are always assured a good deal.
