This is the real deal. For about $1.20 a dozen, you can get fresh handmade tortillas. Yes, they have both corn and flour varieties, all made to order. You can see the little old ladies in the kitchen part of the store hand molding them and grilling them on the stove. No machines baloney here! You can also buy menudo soup, where they will fill your pot if you bring it in. The service is great and friendly.

Have you ever wondered about soda pops you used to drink as a kid? I used to inquire as to whether I could find RC in a glass bottle. The solution to most any soda pop search can be found at the Galco Old World Grocery. Tucked away in an unpretentious neighborhood, the grocery store has 2 whole aisles dedicated to soda! You can find almost anything in a glass bottle, and it is so rewarding! I bring home a couple 6-packs every time I go. You see people there checking out every brand, smiling withmemories. The owner is a soda fan himself and goes out of his way to bring in pop from all parts of the country and even other countries. He doesn't charge an arm and a leg, either. Also, grab an awesome deli sandwich to go with those sodas- they aregreat! Well, well worth the drive.

We enjoyed this huge market and found some great buys on souvenirs and designer knockoffs such as Louis Vuitton handbags. The market was interesting. There were animals of every sort there for sale. Most of the vendors were very helpful and willing to negotiate a better price; however, some vendors were a bit too pushy.

This market is a treasure of Asian ingedients from such items as galangal (a cousin to ginger but it tastes like menthol) to Key Lime leaves and even fruits like dourian. The prices are affordable and the staff very helpful. In fact, if you are a first timer to some dishes, don't be shy about asking for recipes from the staff. The selection of cooking items is good and inexpensive. When your looking for proper way to steam rice in anticipation of Thai dishes, they have the bamboo holder and steel container, plus all the utensils required. I happen to dig som tom (unripened mango salad), and they have all ingredients necessary to make it. The same goes for when I pull out my Balinese recipes. Start here.

This Ralph's location is open 24 hours, which has saved me many times when I found myself starving in the wee small hours of the night and didn't have a thing to eat in the house. It's a big store, has just about everything you could need from groceries, fresh bread and cookies, fruit and veggies, small kitchen and
home accessories, magazines and paperback novels. I have to say you can find fresher produce elsewhere in Los Angeles, however if you can find the fruit you're looking for whenit's just been delivered it's usually quite good. The cashiers and staff are helpful and friendly. (However, be careful buying
newspapers, sometimes they are sitting out for a while, close to the exit, and pick up some insects from outside.)

I shopped at this store for awhile to save money on groceries. You can get large quantity items similar to that at Costco for a good price. However, it does have more of a warehouse atmosphere, and can give the impression that it's not as clean or its food not as fresh. I bought a large container of yogurt once, and when I opened it up, the film that covered the container was torn. This store usually is very organized in the morning. Very nice selection and very clean in the mornings. If you shop there in the evenings is a different story, not a very good selection, and a bit messy.

My friend introduced me to this grocery store and I love it. Its the only place to get Kona Coffee Mochi Ice Cream and some other items that I don't know the English name for, I just know it by its packaging. You can also get Miso Paste, fresh fish and Pocky sticks in all different flavors. It is at one end of a small mall in Little Tokyo but parking is free. If you are in Little Tokyo area, stop by at this Japanese grocery store. You can park in the structure for 2 hrs free.
It's a bit chaotic/crowded than other Mitsuwa's.

I always get the turkey sandwich with a bowl of straight chili with a 50 cent glass of homemade lemonade. The lines can be long but they go by quite fast. I have never been there when it was not crowded, the business is great! They also have a candy stand near the front entrance with all kinds of goodies.you cant visit downtown WITHOUT going here! Its a classic! Frech dip subs, purple eggs and 9 cent cups of coffee! The owners make you feel like friends not customers and the resturant is old, warm and cozy! Take a metro ride into grand central station and there you are!

This is an excellent little novelty shop. They did a good job with it, because it is a very classy little store, not trashy at all, so you are not ashamed to go in and browse. The people are very friendly, finding a meter to park at can be tough! Nice little selection of novelty sex gifts found here! They have attempted to make it friendlier toward the average person and their reputation, and succeeded.
Nice place to go for a bachelor or bachelorette party, too!

I go here with co-workers or a friend who works in Chinatown and usuallly they help me order. I like this place a lot and have been adventurous to try the salty pork dishes or even squid or there is this dish with egg and a kind of broccoli vegetable thing that is so bitter. But, they do have more familiar dishes like Beef with Broccoli or CHow Mein noodles. The service is pretty good although there has always been a lot of people here and so it is fast-paced.
