One of the rare Japanese restaurants of the area. There may be places around to buy sushi, but it'll be hard to find a true japanese restaurant. It's a very cute place with oriental style chairs and tables. The food comes in unique dishes sometimes, unless you get the soup... cause then you just get a regular bowl. Prices can be expensive depending on what you order, but it's relatively appropriate for a japanese rest."

I honestly did not know how to rate this place. It's a unique place and it features egg custards. It's gorgeous in and out, though on the small side. As great as the idea is, serving all kinds of egg custard (regular egg flavor, strawberry, almond, egg white, etc)... it's not all that good, honestly. Some taste good, sure, but the rest is just weird. And the rest of the pastries are overpriced. But it's still a great place to sit and chat over some nice cold or hot drinks (also in many colors and flavors).

This place looks great. I mean, it's really appealing to go in and buy something. The bubbles teas look yummy and the cheese cakes looke delish. But if you know the neighborhood, this place is outrageously overpriced. Though sometimes, you'd want to treat yourself to something pretty, so try and enjoy the goodies.

This is a great Malaysian Restaurant. They're well known for their spices and aromas. The place is very dimly lit, and has a great sort of "hut" look, with some lights and cascading waters along the wall. A must try here is the Indonesian bread, it's great, plus, you can watch them make it too!

I'd have to say the atmoshpere is quite something at Dojo. It's quite classy, but the food isn't as expensive, unlike the restuarants int he area. It's a great spot for college kids and the salads are really really good. The service has gone down ever since someone I knew quit.. but you eat food, not service. Not to generalize though, some people are really friendly there.
edit: I meant this to be the Dojo at St. Marks.

There are a few places in chinatown that sell dumplings (fried or steamed) for just a dollor for five, but only this place wins all points for taste, service, and seating. Though the place is small, it is usually adequate for a quick meal. It's a must try, if not for the dumplings, then for the awesome sauce! There's also free soup, you just have to ask.

This small little photoshop is just that, a small photoshop. But they sell cameras and do fax as well. They also do passport photos, etc. Their film, though, is a bit overpriced. They think I don't know, but I've checked the other prices around the area and this definately has one of the most expensive black and white films. I'm not sure about the others. Sure their quality is great, but generally overpriced.

This place sells everything that is soy. There is soy milk, tofu, tofu flower (which is really good by the way, you should definately try it). etc. Though their place looks really old and dirty, and almost like a mini warehouse in the middle of the street, it actually is a very popular place to shop for many in the neighborhood. You can also buy noodle and rice cakes. Yum.

You know, what? I can't really tell the difference between herb stores, yet I go to so many. I guess what I can tell you is that it bothers me when some places use gloves and other places don't. It also bothers me that some places have gloves that look new, and others seem like they've used the same pair of gloves since they were born. I'm happy to say that the person who served me wore nice and new looking gloves.
