Metro Taxi is Greater New Haven's taxi service. They have a large fleet of taxi's and probably the most popular. Their motto "All you need is 7" is fitting as their phone number is all 7's. Most of the taxi's are relatively new and they seem to change their fleet as needed. The reputation of the taxi driver driving recklessly is still valid. You'll often see them drive around like they were in New York. They are easily identified by their orange and white striping on their Ford Crown Victoria cars. They take advanced reservations as well and will call to remind you of a scheduled pick up. They do not offer shuttle/van service.
