I went to Balboa Park three years ago with my parents when I first came to San Diego from Northern California. It was simply breathtaking. There are various museums including a museum of natural history and a Japanese friendship garden. In addition, there are exhibitions, art performances, lectures, films, and concerts at Balboa Park all year round.

Although I have never bought any clothes from Banana Republic due to their outrageous prices, I do enjoy their signature scent Woman from Banana Republic. It is the only perfume that wear because it is a light and refreshing scent that doesn't overbear the senses. It can be worn during the daytime or at night.

This is one of my all-time favorite places to shop. You can get find tons of designer clothes at very cheap prices. For example, I bought a wool coat over Christmas that would normally have cost me over $100 for only $80. Also, once, I found a Ralph Lauren sport coat that usually costs $350 for only $15. There is also a good selection of designer purses at low prices too. All in all, a wonderful place for the budget-savvy consumer.

As a Pisces, I especially enjoyed looking at all the aquatic life at Birch. There are many different species of fish and there are even sharks outside in the larger tanks! My favorites were the hammerhead sharks and a particular type of fish that usually has a 75 year life span. Also, there is a special area where people can pet the sharks (small ones of course) which is rather cool. I don't know about the prices for admission because I was given free admission everyday thanks to my job, but it surely can't be too steep.

I love Daphne's. It's like Greek fast food at a reasonable price. Usually I order the lunch special with the Zesty Fire Chicken breast that includes a drink, rice, and Greek salad for $5.79 plus tax. Since I'm not a huge fan of soda, there were a couple of occasions when the server allowed me to trade in the drink for a piece of baklava. Baklava is very good, but beware, way way sweet! Overall, I recommend this restaurant if you want something other than the usual American fare to fill you up.

I would say that Tapioca Express is a good place to get a variety of different boba flavors, but it isn't spectacular. Being the predictable person that I am, I usually order the Taro Snowbubble or the Mocha Snowbubble which are both fairly tasty choices. The Snowbubble is a mixture of blended ice and milk along with your selected flavor and boba balls. It usually depends on the location, but the boba balls are okay. I love the colorful straws and the relaxed atmosphere where you can just chill out with some friends. Overall, not too bad.

I went to Souplantation for the first time last night. It's a pretty good, all you can eat buffet. A bit pricy at $8.79 for dinner not including drinks (an $1.69 extra), but there is a good variety of soups and salads. I especially enjoyed the sweet broccoli salad. I've never had broccoli that tasted sweet before! And the corn chowder mixed with oyster crackers was pretty good too. For dessert, they have soft serve, tangy lemon muffins, chocolate muffins, blueberry muffins, and a very decadent banana focaccia bread. :-) There aren't many main course meat options though, other than the meat in the soups. So I would say that this would be a good buffet targeted toward the light eaters and/or vegetarians. But you can still get pretty full on everything they have here.

Jasmine is probably the best Chinese restaurant in San Diego. The first time I went there was with my parents three years ago. We had the regular simple dishes such as chow mein and fried rice and even my dad who has a very picky palate agreed that it was good. The dim sum here is also great. Portions are pretty generous and there is plenty of seating and high ceilings everywhere. Jasmine also has this place near the back which I like to dub "Jasmine on the Side". There, you can order simple chow mein, chow fun, bbq pork, roast duck, and pastries for a fraction of the price. It's still just as good and the wait is much shorter.

This is my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in San Diego because the food is great and the prices aren't too bad. Of course, I always order Bun Cha Gio Thit Nuong every time. Currently, that costs $5.95 which is a reasonable price for vermicelli with grilled pork and an egg roll to top. I can't say the service was spectacular, but I've gotten used to that in Asian restaurants. They weren't rude to me either though. So it's just a toss-up. Overall, a good deal.

I've only been to Extraordinary Desserts once, at the location on Fifth in the Hillcrest area, but these desserts are truly awesome. Although the place is rather small and can only seat a limited amount of people both inside and outside, the selection of cakes is diverse. My personal favorite is the Viennese cake, with chocolate, coconut, and several types of fruit on top covered in a chocolate, raspberry sauce. I recommend this place but the only cons are that it is rather expensive (about $7.50 for one slice of cake) and the lines extend past the entrance on the weekends.
