I like to make jewelry, and I have to say Bobby Bead in Uptown has one of the best selections I know of in Minneapolis. You can get tubes or strings of beads of different quality, ranging from plastic/glass seed beads, to Austrian crystal and gemstone beads. They have everything you need including the string, wires, clasps, hooks, beads, how-to books, and what have you. Great selection, and not too expensive! If you like to make jewelry, you should definitely check it out.

Walking past Fashion Tomato always makes you want to stop and look at their window, and then you end up going in... It's definitely the place to go if you're looking for clothes to go out, or if you just like to dress funky. However, I do have to say the quality isn't that great for what you're paying. I guess I have a bit more industry knowledge, but hey it's a great deal for people who don't over-analyze value in clothing.
I'd compare it to a Forever 21 or an big city asian boutique. It's worth checking out.

They've got your typical gym equipment, and it's all in good condition and fairly up-to-date. They also have steam rooms and saunas, a pool, and free classes open to members. What's a little more unique about this fitness center is that it has an indoor rock climbing wall. Pretty neat!
I like it because it's conveniently located, isn't full of scary jocks, and yet has all the equipment and facilities you need to keep in shape or bulk up.

There's a large selection, and the prices are average. If you're looking for something for a gala, I'd suggest going to Nordstrom's or something,but it's a nice place to find a gift for a friend or yourself.

The selection of accessories is pretty large, and most of their stuff is kinda trendy. I'd say if you ranged between the high school to later 20's you'd enjoy this shop.

I went to Saville Florists when I first moved to Evanston to find a cactus, and the staff was very friendly as well as helpful. In fact, one of the managers ordered a bunch of cacti because there were none at the store, and he said he would call me when they arrived. Sure enough, a couple days later he called and I went to pick out my little $5 cactus.
I felt that they were really friendly and went out of their way to help you find what you're looking for. The store is cute, and not too small either.

I went to Duxler because I got a promotional flyer in the mail, and it was pretty cheap for an oil change (about $15), and I just called to see if they had an opening. I went in with my car and was out something like 20 minutes later. I watched the guy change my oil in front of me, and I felt they were trustworthy. I've only been there once, but I'd go there again.

Though it may seem like you wouldn't want to eat here, you do! I am not a vegetarian, but I love the food at Hard Times Cafe. I've been living in Chicago and I haven't been able to find a place that could even compare to this Minneapolis gem.
Now it seems a bit unsanitary, but they use fresh organic ingredients and well hey lots of people eat there, and I'm still alive! Honestly though, try their Seitan gyros or the veggie wrap... mmm.
It's definitely not a place to go if you don't feel comfortable in a hobo-esque setting though. I've had fun reading there, and people-watching, as the people stray a little from the average norm.

I have found the Evanston Northwestern Medical Group to be extremely convenient. The last two times I woke up with a serious ailment, I was able to get an appointment that day! It was a relief to be able to see a doctor and get relief from my worries. I also trust my doctor because she was confident enough to refer me to a specialist rather than ignoring my symptoms.
The offices are right by the EL and Metra stop in Evanston, so it's pretty convenient. The facilities seem kind of old, but the staff carry about in a professional manner.

I entered this pet store on the recommendation of a friend, and was surprised to find that a pet store could be so deceiving from the outside. The Thee Fish Bowl pet store looks a bit run down from the outside, but inside are some pretty neat pets. They have fresh and salt water fish, and underwater plants I've only seen at an aquarium! There are also reptiles, rabbits, and birds. The back room is where you can find cats and dogs for adoption. The cats roam freely about the store so don't be alarmed. Overall, a pretty good selection for a local pet store.
