If you're looking to sell, they offer a pretty good trade-in or cash price for clothes/shoes/accessories. It's one of my favorite places to check out in Minneapolis.

The Music Box shows a variety of independent films that you won't find in your typical chain cinema. The interior decor of the theater is pretty ornate, similar to the Oriental Theater in Milwaukee if you've been there (although I personally prefer the Oriental better...). It's a fun change from the regular movie scene.
Tickets are a bit spendy at $10, but that's only a dollar more than a regular movie really. I'd definitely recommend it if you're looking for a different setting, and you're more interested in independent films.

The Lincoln Park Zoo is a great place to go on your own, with a friend, or family. The great thing about it is that it's free, and convenient for those living in the city. There's parking on the street as well as a lot for those who don't live in the downtown neighborhood.
Exhibits include apes/monkeys, birds, seals, giraffes, elephants, lions, and others. I think every city should have a public park/zoo like the Lincoln Park Zoo.

If you're looking to buy new furniture, and you're working on a budget, I suggest checking out Roy's near Wrigleyville. They have a large selection of furniture at decent prices, and you can choose your own fabric for couches. The styles are more contemporary so you won't find the typical "mom's house" oak or eighties furniture. I've only been there once, but I'm planning to get my couch there. Oh, and be sure to check out upstairs, too!

This new museum located in Chicago's Chinatown presents the experiences and lifestyles of early Chinese immigrants in the Midwest. The museum is very small, and presents a limited amount of historical background; however, it shows potential for growth and improvement. They are planning to expand to the second floor, and with some additional artifacts, it could prove to be interesting for more audiences than just the asian community.
Most of the exhibits are photographic, but there are some pieces of clothing, a setup of an old Chinese laundry, and a couple other relics. The entrance fee is only $1, so it's worth a visit if you're in the area.

It's located in the hub of the Indian community, over on Devon, and it isn't difficult to find. I can usually find meter parking quite easily, and it's a fun atmosphere to look around.
The food is good, perhaps not fantastic if you're an Indian food connoisseur, but I know good food and I enjoyed it.

Bennison's is alright if you're looking for a classic bakery cookie, although I wouldn't say it's anything special. In fact, I'm a little disappointed that it's one of the only local bakeries in the Evanston area.
They have your basic chocolate chip and sugar cookies, breads, kringles, and cakes. I wasn't all that impressed, but it's been around for a while so some people must like it...

Timberlanes is pretty fun if you're with a good group of friends and looking to drink. It's an old run-down bowling alley (like a dive of bowling alleys), but has the crowd coming back.
Lanes are limited, so I'd recommend going a little earlier than 10 p.m. They have a small selection of balls to choose from as well. Beer is average priced, and you can get pitchers. Bring cash though because they don't take plastic! I'd say the best thing is the juke-box, but even that's not too cheap. I dunno what keeps 'em coming back to be honest, but last time I was there I had fun. Maybe it's just for the locals...

It's not necessarily cheap, but it's what you can expect to pay for bowling these days. The differentiating factor about this alley is that their up-to-date good music! And beer is decently priced, you can get pitchers of bud, miller, and better beers also(I think they have Boddingtons at least).
The lanes are really smooth, which is good if you take bowling seriously, and there is a good selection of balls, plenty of lanes.. They have one pool table and it's a dollar per game, pretty sweet...
Still my favorite place to go bowling.

This driving range is in the suburbs , but if you live nearby, it's worth the trip. You purchase a pre-paid card for balls, which you can use on your next trip if you decide not to golf for as long as you originally anticipated. Increments range from I think $10-$100.
What's also nice is that the balls set up on rubber tees automatically. You insert your pre-paid card and a ball comes up from a hole in the ground, and sits on a tee. After you hit it, a new one pops up, and you continue to swing without having to set up each time.
Also, it's a two-floor driving range, so if there isn't room on ground-level, you can go upstairs and practice. You still hit into the same area as you would on ground level.
Nice practicing place!
