What can I say beynd the title? The bartenders make you feel unwelcome, and even the manager says she doesn't care about customer service! She actually sais that directly to my face. I will not go back to this place until there's a change in management, and would suggest you don't waste your time either.

In Short Tempest is mostly filled with scruffy bike messengers and local lushes, but the occasional newspaper staffer from the nearby Chronicle stops in for a microbrew after work. The aesthetic is utilitarian--the square room has brick walls, a cement floor and is decorated with Christmas lights. The tables are made of particleboard and the chairs look like they came from a convention center closeout sale.

our server was pretty nice and the food was pretty average, but the management was horrible. we had booked a party for 14 people for dining and jazz and had confirmed that week that there wouldn't be any problems. when we arrived, the manager had failed to notify us that there would be no jazz and a private party had booked the back room. he promised us free bottles of wine for the inconvenience, but later tried to charge us for the wine. not only was he unprofessional, he was rude and annoying. the food isn't good enough to put up with the bad service. i highly recommend you to go somewhere

I went Thursday night with some friends for the "Blue Blanket Bust-Up". LOVED IT! BEST deal in town. I have seen other shows and paid MUCH more for a LOT less. They are FUNNy!
Black leather banquettes and round cocktail tables fill this upscale Union Square performance lounge, and most nights find the house packed. A familiar brick-wall backdrop and a single microphone sets the stage for local and national comics to do their thing, with showcases of up to eight comedians and one major headliner each night. Theme nights include female-only and improv comic events. Cover charges range between $7-10.

Check out the cabaret/burlesque performances late night on Friday and Saturday. $25 cover with no drink minimum for a fun, slightly naughty show with guest performers changing every week. Strong drinks, big laughs and the occasional pair of pasties make this an excellent late night draw at a reasonable price.

We decided to try out the new Sunday Brunch at Mars and both ended up having the "Omelette Special of the Day" which turned out to be anything we wanted! The food was good ... the roasted potatos were fab and he omelettes were delicious - they were decent in size (not huge - which is fine by me). All the ingredients were fresh and put together by someone who can cook (not like some of the hacks in other places). The service was attentive, without being intrusive and the bartender was a nice guy. Personally, I liked the music ... it was an eclectic mix of 80s and 90s stuff. The outside patio is quite nice with some funky plastic flowers mixed in with the usual (real) greenery. All in all, Mars is an attractive place (better than the exterior would suggest). We'll be going back again, for sure.

I discovered Cafe Royale over 4 years ago, and it remains one of my very favorite bars in SF. The reasons: friendly people (both behind and in front of the bar); a warm, open space with comfortable seating and great evening light; jazz on the speakers and Boddington's on the tap; a fine blend of upretentious people of all ages, backgrounds, and locales.
Cafe Royale has always been a great place to lounge with friends after work and converse at comfortable volumes. In the last year or so they have also added some quality events later in the evenings, such as art exhibitions and live music.
My only complaint would be that evening events can get crowded. But Cafe Royale is a unique space in San Francisco well worth checking out.

holiday. It started when you walked in cuz the door staff was friendly and funny. The drinks were strong and the bartenders were quick and friendly. The drink prices are the best. The music was pumpin and and the crowd was loving it. The Dj even took requests. The girls were hot and approachable. I was surprised the ratio was great for guys /girls. Will be back for another turn for sure

181 is probably the best club in the city. There's some attitude at the door but once you get in it's a worthwhile experience. Drinks are very expensive, but I guess they can afford to do it since people keep coming back for more. The music upstairs was good, downstairs was hit or miss. But overall everyone there is attractive and not pretentious which is what separates this club from the rest of SF.
