Brilliantly colored heraldic banners flutter from the ceiling of this earth-toned, white tablecloth establishment. At the bar near the front, cleancut businessmen sip classic martinis across from a wood-fired pizza oven. The lunch crowd streams in for antipasti such as grappa-cured salmon and celery root salad with air-cured beef and white truffle oil. Dinner options include almond- and Fontina-filled half moon ravioli.
We had a lovely meal here the other night. My friend and I met here for drinks at happy hour, which was great, and then continued our night there with dinner. The food was great and the service professional. I'll be back soon.

I think Nook can definitely be called a breakfast place. They might not be the typical amarican breakfast joint but they do have a decent selection like waffles, oatmeal, granola as well as bagel sandwiches like scrambled eggs on a bagel, the most amazing salmon bagel and more. (Check out their web page...)
Their quiches are organic and excellent quality so I doubt they come from costco. I thinks it's a great combination of a day and night spot. Check it out any time, you will love it!

TOP FAVS: Braised short ribs, Tomato salad, Cheese fondue, Turkey lettuce cups, Crabcakes, Grilled Eggplant, Duck confit, Donuts w/ Hot Choc, Dulce de leche sundae, Banana Ice Crm
OK: Squash, Mac & Cheese more like a chs sandwich, Ahi Tacos (can't really taste the ahi), Polenta Fries (interesting but similar to Chs Mac)
SKIP: Mussels (nothing special), Moroccan Cigars (way too greasy)
Our server recommended 3 dishes/person - we found that to be too much food for a large group of 11 people.

One of San Francisco's Best Hidden Treasures. The staff was very knowledgeble and suggested the right wine for the occasion. I also tried the sake cocktails and I thought that they were out of this world... and very creative. I highly recomend this Spot if if your looking for a good place to have quality wines and sake cocktails. Bacchus is a must!

I went here for a small function with about eight people. While there might have been one or two other small groups of two or three, the place was almost entirely empty. The staff was helpful, although our server did not appear excited or passionate about the wine selections. Overall, my experience at Viansa seemed bland. I would go back if someone invited me there, but I'm unlikely to go back on my own.

We loved everything we had and we had everything ! we were a group of 8 people so we basically tried a lot of apetizer and main courses. The shintake mushroom dumpling were amazing. The curry potato cake with a pink bernese sauce unbelivable ! Wonderful beef filet and save room for the delicious desserts. We had the bananamisu',grat presentation, lovely flavor as well as the authentic panna cotta. If you love chocolate don't miss their mousse. We love he cozy wine bar and their "flights".
Great discovery, my first choice from nowon ! Service need a little improvement. Waitress are somhow distracted and forget to get orders from everybody or they just walk away while you are still ordering...you can easly forget the ok service with their great food.

Very nice place to get a couple bottles of wine at below restaurant prices while enjoying mediocre food and excellent conversation. The limited wine list offers a mostly California selection of well-known producers. Even amateur wine lovers will recognize producers like Beaulieu Vineyards and Ravenswood from supermarket shelves. An occassional Bordeaux or Chilean red can be found on the list, but it's unlikely for one to discover any unknown vintages from the rather limited selection. Nevertheless, the casual pub-like atmosphere and affordable prices bridge the gap between unpretentious dive and intimidating wine bar.

Bacar lived up to the hype. You walk into a beautiful restuaurant in and you hear great live Jazz right away. From there the night just got better. The winelist is extensive to say the least, but the wines by the glass is where it is at. The 60 some odd choices and the different size pours from small tastes to getting 1/3 or 2/3 a bottle with the small decanters. The food is very good but not the most memoriable part of the evening. The atmosphere is almost as exciting as the wine list. It is very young and energized feel in the place. At 9:00 PM the whole bar area was packed as we got a drink before we were seated. Very lively and fun. The food is a bit overprice but not outragous. Try the ribeye, it might be the best in the city.

Cosmopolitan, chic and definitely a place to be and be seen! On the night I was there, everyone was beautiful and just radiated energy... perhaps the subtle effects of the grat wine selections. The food is perfect for a date and hang out w your best friends scene and the wine flights allow you to taste several wonderful selections without tipping the DUI scale. 1 negative ~ only one restroom albeit it was very clean.

Went on a first date last Friday and had a fabulous time! We sat upstairs at a window table near the bar. Our waitress was friendly and was patient with our lack of wine knowledge. She made excellent pairing and food suggestions. Highly recommended and will definitly be back. The menu of simple California favorites is divided into small and large plates. Appetizers are fresh, colorful and presented like gifts--"Crush" oysters served warm with bacon and chard, pan-seared scallops the size of a hockey puck and seared ahi tuna served on a bed of ripe tomatoes. Larger dishes include pan-roasted chicken breast, cherry-orange glazed duck and grilled rack of lamb with fava beans and asparagus, all with sweet, tangy sauces and reductions.
