I came into town from NY,and stayed at a local hotel in the Hayes Valley, where by chance they referred me to Mara's for my waxing, and hair, which was conviently accross the st. Not only was the salon beautiful, but the staff was extremly helpful, polite, and directed me into the direction that i had no clue i was about to go in. I ended up buying a tanning package (for the brief stay in SF), got my AMAZING mani/pedi from Anthony, and then Emily ended up flat-ironing my overly-frizzy mane. I loved it all, and if i lived in the city, i would definately, with no doubt refer everyone i know to this salon. I believe it is the only full service salon in the Hayes Valley. I am very happy with my experiece there, and here. And look forward to visiting them again when i return. Thanx!

thrift town has tons of clothing for women, some are priced crazy low. while the prices of other items are high, too high for the quality in my opinion. The 2nd floor is all housewares and electronics and there are so many great deals up there! Check out the furniture and the seasonal sections (esp. xmas if you're looking for kitchsy it can't be beat!).
lacking are the options for men's clothing especially vintage.
kids' sections seem rather sparse; however, i, myself, do not shop for kids.
bottom line: if you like to thrift you'll have fun. if you LOVE to thrift and don't want to spend four or more hours doing it (cuz there's just so much to look at) then do like i do and go an hour or two before close. i promise, they are very good at kicking everybody out. :)

I've been a Cinta client for a couple of years. I've had manicures and pedicures as well as regular haircuts with Arvin. I've found everyone there to be very warm and professional. Arvin's attention to detail is fantastic and I'm always happy with my cut. It is expensive, but not more so than comparable salons in the area. Plus it is close to my office and easy to get an appointment.

The well-executed dishes coming out of the kitchen prove that chef Jason Yeafoli has some serious chops. White truffle oil can overwhelm even the most robust dish, but a careful hand elevates a blanched asparagus, mache, and Parmesan appetizer to the sublime. Many mains revolve around meat and potatoes, like a satisfying Painted Hills filet of beef atop a fried hash-brown cake with halved baby carrots and foie gras sauce, but they're never boring. Stick to simple desserts like the house-made sorbets and ice creams.

I've always considered lunch at the Rotunda to be an essential part of a day of shopping in Union Square. The food is excellent... I recommend the lobster club. And don't worry if you can't land one of the highly sought after tables by the window overlooking downtown; the comfy semicircular booths allow you to admire the restaurant's beautiful architecture, including the spectacular glass ceiling.

Wonderful Union squre location with parking across the street. Restaurant is new and totally re-done with a great mediterranean atmosphere, a wood fire pizza oven, and a back room to fit a large party. The appetizers, meal, kebabs, pizza and seafood where all good! The price is right and service excellent, the owner even sat down with us!
Santorini is a great place to eat any day of the week. Its a very casual environment, almost too empty... but don't be fooled. Their overbaked pitas served to everyone is delicious. If you visit you MUST try their Pork Chops or Lamb Shanks. GOOOOOOD food!

We had a company party here this past Sunday, and everything was beyond fantastic. Our waitress was extremely friendly and informative; the food was fantastic, and the space we had was perfect. They met, and went, beyond, our expectations. I had several associates from Japan and Germany in town, and they were all impressed. I definitely recommend this restaurant for any event. Everything was perfect!

Going to Saha has provided us some of the most memorable and intimate evenings of 2004. From red-colored dancing to moving plates around the table....it feels exotic and refreshing. Mohammed is the chef of chefs....he opened a fine French red after a Xmas work party. mmmmm good! His wife, Marmee is featured in the art work on the walls and en vivo fills the room with warmth and serenity.
Go! Go alone or a deux! Did we mention the food??? It rocks!

This is truly an old-time San Francisco steak house, complete with red walls and crystal chandeliers. The corn-fed steak is even on display at the front of the dining room and after a trip over the mesquite charcoal, tastes every bit as good as it looks. The waiters are friendly and efficient, the Caesar salad is award-winning and the chocolate cake is a perfect finish - along with an extensive single malt scotch lists. Give it a try!

My wife and I stayed at the hilton and I knew Hotel Restaurants are rarely good and in this case I was so right! The prices are just way to high for the food they serve. The food was ok but 40 for a steak not one that was subpar to start. The waiter was ok and ambiance was like a dorm room. The view was about all it had going. I would not recommend this at all.
