My boyfriend and I were in town from Chicago in Jan. , and had a wonderful time back this year. Bix does such a nice job recreating the speakeasy - the jazz trio on the weekend is great, the beautiful two-tier room, low-lighting, great cocktails and food made for an incredible evening out. Our server was very attentive and though we were late for our reservation, were seated promptly.

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful, romantic dinner at Boulevard in mid-April. We are both "foodies" and found this place to be exceptional. The service was first-class, knowledgeable and accomodating without being the least bit pretentious or stuffy. Every course of our meal was incredible. They are so accomodating, in fact, that just last week I emailed the restaurant and requested that a menu be mailed to me so we may display in our home (as we do with menus from our favorite restaurants) and they promptly dropped one in the mail, no questions asked. I highly recommend Boulevard to anyone travelling through (or living in!) San Francisco, it's an experience not to be missed.

There are so many places you can eat in this city for 150 bucks for two that are awesome; Zuni, Delfina, Faralon, Houstons (yeah, Houstons). And there are so many places that two people can eat in this city for 150 bucks that kind of spank it; Chapou, Chez Spencer, Luna Park (if you drink a lot) etc... But regardless of what these reveiwres here say about Blue Plate being "pricey", their portions are HUGE, everything I have had has been awesome, and their take on everything - from presention to ambience is totally unique...and it WORKS!!

Firefly was my introduction to truly great California cooking: subtly perfect flavors, incredibly fresh local ingredients, and effortless fusion of cuisines from all over the world. We've had everything from sushi to old-fashioned meatloaf here, and the kitchen never falters. The tasty lentil spread that comes with the bread (in lieu of butter) is a delectable touch, and the shrimp & scallop potstickers alone are worth the trip. Overall the experience is food as an art form - but without the fancy trappings of a more formal restaurant. The atmosphere is relaxed and homey, like having dinner at a friend's house. My only nitpick would be the host/hostess, who can be a little snooty if you don't look like a Noe Valley type - I made my first visit as a frumpy college student, and we waited 20 minutes despite having a reservation.

My girlfriend gets her hair cut at Kamalaspa, raves about it, and begged for me to get her a spa package. I figured I'd try it out to make sure the spa was "worthy" of a gift for her.
I got a "four-hands" massage and it was awesome - two massage therapists at once. I can't recommend it enough. Simply awesome. Needless to say, I got her a gift certificate.
The decor is perfect. Very elegant and very Indian. There's a really ncie waiting area overlooking Union Square. The staff was also very prompt and professional.
It's definitely a high-end spa, but the prices are not through the roof. I've had worse massages in SF for more money, but I haven't had a better massage...ever.
Pros: Four-Hands Massage, Atmosphere, Value

I made an appointment with Jenny after reading the reviews here, and, once again, Citysearch does not disappoint. I take my hair pretty seriously when I'm dropping this kind of cash, and was afraid I'd have trouble finding someone to measure up to the excellent colorists and stylists I'd grown accustomed to in Manhattan. But Jenny was BETTER. She gave me probably the best blonde highlights I've ever had and a great cut. Not to mention, she's great to chat with, and they were cheaper than I expected. I'll be back and you should go too!

I've been seeing Gillian for a few years now. When I first came to her I had never used hair dye before. Now I am a coppery redhead with beautiful blonde highlights. Much better than my natural mousey brown color! She also takes the time to show you styling tricks and recommends good products. I use the yummy smelling Davines products from the salon and my hair is super shiny and healthy! I would definitley recommend Gillian for her amazing cuts and color.

I just got home from the salon. The atmosphere is great. I love the giant mirrors. The staff is wonderful. My hairstylist is Monica. She is absolutely marvelous. She can work miracles. She pays attention to detail and is concerned about what you want and what would flatter you. She is new at zip zap but she's not new to the cosmotology scene. She was a stylist in LA. Don't under estimate her talent. She's great. GO SEE MONICA!!!!

I've been seeing Debra at G-Squared for a few months now, and I figured I would "give something back" to her by recommending her to others. Debra cuts and colors my hair, and I can honestly say I have never been happier. She is friendly and professional, not to mention extremely skilled at her profession. I love the relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere at this salon. There's no attitude like at other salons I've been to. G-Squared rocks!

I was looking for a beauty school, so of course I went for some informational interview. Zenzi's seems like a good deal for the money. It's not the best school, but it's deffinately not the worst (see Hilltop in Daly City.)
Zenzi started the school 20 years ago. She's a sweet lady who really wants students to succeed. They'll be moving into a new space soon and it promises to be nicer than their temporary space on Market.
I wouldn't let any of the students touch my hair. Theirs is bad enough.
