a perennial favorite

When I'm craving something better than cheap eats and something less than dining out in earnest, I head straight for Chow or Park Chow. I haven't gone wrong here yet, and neither have any of my friends, but my personal mainstays are the pork chops with polenta and the ginger cake with pumpkin ice cream. The place is constantly packed, but the service is always cheerful and attentive, and I've rarely waited more than a few minutes (admittedly I'm usually in a group of 2-4). Tips: Park on Lincoln alongside Golden Gate Park if you're having trouble; also, try eating at the bar if you're just one or two people.
