I can see why this restaurant is always rated as one of the best Chinese places in the city. I usually have the food delivered but have also eaten in the actual restuarant. Either way, the food and service are excellent. I cannot usually handle very spicy food so it is suprising that I like it so much but I always ask for the dishes to be mild. Prcies are reasonable also.

No, it's not "authentic" Chinese food; it's "way above average" American Chinese food. The Eliza's Spicy Chicken is fantastic; the String Beans and Bean Curd is outstanding; and the Walnut Prawns are great. Ditto for the vegetarian egg rolls: flacky dough without being greasy. My food is always hot, flavorful, and well presented. As often as I eat here, I except them to get it wrong every now and then (and they do), but it's not enough to prevent me returning.
Service varies and depends on the wait-person. Service is generally brusque, but friendly, and that's fine. At this type of place, I'm not looking for "please attend to all of my needs!"

We had a 3-person early (6 p.m.) weekday reservation. We were "greeted" (note the quote marks there) and seated in the upstairs area. Our order was taken promptly but "coldly" and was promptly delivered. While we did enjoy our food (the squab and Peking duck were especially nice, although the presentation is minimalistic), we did not see our waiter again until we had to ask (soemone else) for the check. No water fills, no quick once-overs to check on our meal, nothing. Odd to say the least. Nonetheless, the variety on the menu is outstanding and everything we were served was above average in taste, if a bit on the expensive side. I would add, in closing, that the restaurant was not especially busy at the time of our visit.

It's odd that in the city with the world's largest Chinatown I've had many a mediocre Chinese meal and take-out. However, I decided to take my parents to Hunan Home's in hopes of good times and food, as many other reviewers have suggested. We were seated for dinner right away with the ocean view (by the fish tank). Our server was very friendly and communicated well. My mother had the stringbeans and chicken, which were very fresh and not overcooked. I had the sizzeling beef, which came in a wonderful black bean sauce that thickened when poured over the included hot pan. My father had the tea duck, which, apart from the skin, was lean and very tasty. None of the food was salty, oily, or heavy. The interior was nice, not too loud, and you could see both tourists and locals eating here. I hightly recommend this Chinatown classic.

For lunch in particular, this place can't be beat. It's the fastest lunch in town, for one thing, and the rotating menu of curries is delicious every day -- plus, it's under $6 for a big bowl of curry and rice ($7.10 with naan). Little known secret: you can mix two of the curry specials in the same bowl for the same price. Love it!

The pizza was great but the tikka masala and everything else was bland. I asked for medium spicy and got bland. So if you wanted spicy curry make sure you order "Super Hot". Indian Clay Oven is much better and I only tried Raja for the ratings. I rate this restaurant average. I used their online delivery service and it's took 1 hour and 30 min before it arrived at my house and I only live 5 min away.

Go for the amazing chicken biryani (NOT boneless, please - for some reason the boneless pieces end up being a bit dry and tasteless here) and 'karahi chicken' (also the 'achari chicken', if it's one of the specials that day).
The garlic, onion & aloo naans are all awesome (pretty good size, too).

I took a couple of friends here for New Years Eve. We made reservations so seating was prompt. Service was decent. The waiter came to check up on us several times to make sure that things were okay and even suggested some dishes that turned out to be delicious! We had the combo tandori dish as our starter. The lamb was delicious and tender; the chicken tikki was heaven. The curry was also really good. The best thing I had that night was the Onion Naan. It was amazing!! Will definitely be visiting again.

I started eating here when they first opened, because they had no business and I can get my food quickly. Turns out the food is fantastic, better than the other local places. I must not be alone in my thinking, because these days there's usually a line to get a table. We have many visitors from Singapore and other parts of the world, and we bring them to Chutney. In fact, we usually dine in groups of 10 or more when visiting. Meat or veggie, I love everything on the menu. We usually order a variety each time and we share. Our only consistant is biryani, my wife's favorite. One plate can feed 2 people. One word of warning to spice wimps...The food can often be spicy, so speak up if you can't handle it. Also, try a Salaam Cola while you're there. I love this place!
