Sprout, located in the trendy Third Ward, surrounded by equally pricey shops, carries unique and high-quality baby and toddler's clothing and toys. They clothes are truly unique, ranging from funky hand-knit sweaters, to adorable smocked dresses to kiddie rock T-shirts. The toys are pretty vintage-wagons, blocks, sock-monkeys, etc. Everything is very expensive. The store caters to yuppie parents and well-to-do grandparents. It's a really fun place to look and maybe pick up an outfit for your baby's six-month pictures. It would also be a good place to browse for a baby gift. It's not where most people will be buying their kid's wardrobe though.

You must experience the joy of shopping at Faust Music first hand to understand what cannot be put into words here. Let me just say that it is a completely unique experience; not just a "shopping" experience, but a "life" experience if you will. Faust has been located on Milwaukee's south side for more than 50 years and most musicians from around these parts know of this zany proprietor. You must shop "by appointment" only which seems odd, since most retailers want customers in their shop. Not true for Faust, he only wants you if you're going to spend money the instant you walk into the shop - he doesn't have time for dilly-dalliances nor does he suffer fools gladly. However, buying a single pair of drumsticks can turn into a mind-expanding three-hour socio-political-philosophical diatribe, so bring money also for the parking meter. You will need it. He has some amazing stories - which he might share with you over some wine and anchovies, and some pretty good drums. Who knows what he has in stock, because he won't let most people see it. However, that isn't really why we shop here - it is for the man, the myth, the legend known as Faust. That, my friends, is why Faust Music gets a perfect score - you will never meet another like him.

I can't speak for anything else on the menu, because we only get the pizza, but it's fantastic. The prices are reasonable. This is not gourment pizza, it's your standard carry-out/delivery pizza place. I think their sauce is outstanding. They always run a two for one deal, on any size pizza. It's not a huge bargain but it helps. The delivery service is good and the people who answer the phone are helpful and friendly. Their menu is huge, in case you want something other than pizza, but again, I can't comment on that since I haven't tried anything else. I highly recommend this pizza place above any others I've tried in Milwaukee.

Although we got a good car at an okay price here, the service was pretty typical of any big dealership, with the usual cliches and ploys. One big complaint is that they didn't have the key to the car we wanted to test drive, so we sat around the dealership for 45 minutes while they tracked it down. This continued to be a problem as we didn't get a master key until a week after we brought the car home, and even after that they first gave us the wrong one. Their financial guy gave us an interest rate for our own bank that was at least 2 percentage points higher than what our bank quoted me themselves. Not sure what that was all about, but I'm glad I did my own research into that.

The interior of this bar/restaurant is really cozy with an urban/modern sort of way. The menu is not particularly creative, but the food is consistently good. It would be a good date restaurant, especially considering the location. It's on the East Side near Brady and the Oriental Theater. It has tremendous brunch with more creative menu than their dinner fare. The bar area is equally attractive, however, plagued like many modern bars with big flat-screen TVs. Service is good with friendly waitstaff, although it seems that they have a high turnover rate. The desserts are really good and although it's not on the menu, you can get an espresso with your dessert.

Stone Creek cafe in Bayview has great outdoor seating. Also, excellect beans, roasted at their top-secret downtown location. This Bayview location seems to have the best management and staff (Stonecreek is located throughout the Milwaukee area). The coffee drinks are consistently tasty and the confines are accomodating . One plus has to be the free wi-fi connection. Take a sip, log on, and enjoy. If you buy ten coffees, you get a free drink and if you buy 10 lbs of coffee, you get the eleventh free. One additional bonus is that this location is next to a brand new, local, bookstore.

I've only used this cleaner a couple times, because we don't dry-clean much but they do a really good job. I don't know how to compare prices, but it seems a little expensive. To clean a winter coat is about $18. They offer "organic" dry cleaning and do alterations too. We had our full-size down compforter cleaned there and I know it was less than $40 for this. They almost always have coupons in the local fliers and that helps off-set the cost. It typically takes three days to get your stuff back. I know they have same-day, or next-day service but I've never needed to use that. They aren't particularly friendly, but I don't really expect or need that from my dry-cleaner.

I know most anywhere you go to get your hair cut is expensive, but I thought this place was a little ridiculous. I think I was charged at least $40 to cut my straight, not high-maintenance hair about two-inches. The stylist did not listen to what I wanted at all, and just did what she felt like. Also, the receptionist was snotty, I thought. It's a litte snobby in there. I think a lot of the clients have been going there a while and are long-time Shorewood residents. It seems a little gossipey too. It is an Aveda salon so the products are good and you get a little extra head massage and facial wrap when you get your hair washed, but that wasn't worth the price to me.

Goldi is a great place to shop for clothes, jewelry, purses, notecards, perfume, housewares and shoes that not many other people will have. However, it's really expensive. You can get pretty good deals on shoes-they have a huge selection-but all the clothes and everthing else is really pricey. Even when things go on sale, it's still really expensive. If you have a special event though, or can just afford to spend a lot on clothes, this is a great place to go. You won't find most of the lines anywhere else, that I know of. The staff is really friendly and helpful. It's a really fun place just to look, even if you can't buy anything.

Wade's Guitar Shop is a veritable treasure trove of quircky, vintage guitars for musicians with gear-acquisition syndrome. Located near the UWM campus, Wade's is a great shop for strings, quitar effects petals and other random guitar paraphinalia. Also, Wade has an excellect selection of acoustic guitars. However, one of the highlights has got to be the ever-changing electric guitar selection, from top-shelf Gibson Les Pauls to really odd bright pink guitars from no-name companies that time forgot. Staff is super-friendlly whether you're spending a couple bucks on strings or buyin a 1977 Gibson SG. Wade keeps a small selection of amps, mostly small vintage tube combos.
