Tapioca Express is thus far my favourite place for bubble tea in Irvine. My boyfriend and I stop there often when we visit my sister or just meet in Irvine. Open late, it is the perfect place to pick up some caffeine before driving home or to have some snacks late at night to carry you over until morning. I love their spicy chicken and honey milk tea, hot or cold. The decor is very much like a coffeehouse, with large comfortable couches, little bistro tables, and modern lighting. They provide books, games, and magazines for perusal.

I waited a long time after digital cameras came onto the mainstream scene before I actually bought one myself. There just didn't exist a digital camera that came close enough in capabilities to my old 35mm. When I found this one, I was ecstatic for its powerful zoom lens and AA battery power. While its size is bulkier than others, I think the features are well worth the extra weight.

This is the camera that turned me into a loyal Olympus fan for life. I have had this model for five years now, and it is still going strong after many trips around the world and endless rolls of film. I still sometimes opt for it over my newer digital camera. The Olympus Stylus zoom 140 withstands frequent high volume use, wet and cold weather, and even a couple accidental drops onto the pavement.

The Candy Basket is the perfect old fashioned candy shop! It is especially fitting in the country town setting of historical Julian. I loved walking inside and seeing all the different types of taffy displayed throughout the store. There are candies from more traditional fudge and jawbreakers to the modern sour gummy bears and Jelly Bellies. The colours are great to see.

Torrefazione Italia is a beautiful cafe tucked to one side of Seattle's Pioneer Square. They offer delicious looking paninis, coffee, tea, and other baked goods, but what drew in my group of road trip travelers was the gelato! Served in cute little flower shaped cups with coloured spoons, it is the perfect thing to eat on a warm summer day as you wander around Pioneer Square.

While the thought of a dental appointment usually makes me want to have all my teeth removed to avoid the situation, this dental office I did not mind much at all. The dentist is very personable and friendly, and everyone is very considerate of the patient while they are working away inside your mouth. The hygienist tells interesting stories about what is happening in her life.

Dental care is always expensive, and graduate students do not get paid much, so it is nice to find a place that gives student discounts. I discovered this office by referral from a fellow student, and so far I am very satisfied with the care I have received. I did not like the dentist who filled in while she was on vacation, but Dr. Young herself is wonderful. She takes care to explain proposted treatment plans and options to her patients, and the staff is happy to help organize your visits to accomodate any schedule.

My experience at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation spanned only a couple years, but it gave an overall very good impression. The administration is quick, helpful, and efficient. All of my requests have been processed in a timely manner with great results. My primary care physician was great with her patient interaction, knowledge, and ability to convey her knowledge to the patients. I definitely recommend this foundation.

Those of you who have read my other posts probably know that I am not vegan myself, but that does not mean that I don't support those who advocate such a lifestyle change. I first encountered Action for Animals outside a fair by the Seattle Space Needle, where I bought a ocean conservation pin from them. They will send a free vegan starter pack to help people who have decided to make the change.

Now I am not sure about the other doctors in this practice, but I certainly did not have a very good experience with mine. I had come down with a mysterious illness which brought a cough and high fever culminating in blotchy redness on my skin. My doctor tested me for measles antibodies after the fact and told me that I was probably still contagious but could go back to work. "Just cover your mouth when you cough" was her advice. Let's just say she did not succeed in inspiring my confidence.
