I went to this place for happy hour with a group of co-workers. We get there and they seat us only to ask us to move two times without any proper explanation. The hostess was nice enough to offer us free jolly rancher shots for our trouble but that was not enough to erase the bad experience we had at this place.
Our waitress was horrible, she came by to take our order and then disappear. Many of us went straight to the bar to get our drinks. When the food came, it was cold and not ordered they way we wanted. They did not allow us to run different tabs. The overall experience did not make for a happy hour. So needless to say, this place will not getting our alocohol business anymore.

The martini selection was huge and they had good happy hour appetizers and martinis. The bar itself is bigger than the usual bars around here in LA, there is three separate rooms with the pool table room in the middle and a full bar in the first and last room. The decor is very comfortable with lots of reds and golds. It is a fun place just to hang out after a long day of work or a place to wind down after a night of clubbing.
I would go here again and lounge.

We come here all the time for happy hour. They have $2.50 Coronas and well drinks, what more can you ask for in W. Hollywood on the Sunset Strip? Plus the bartenders always give you what you pay for and then some. :-)
Their food is also pretty yummy with their fries and apple pie on the top of most people's list. Please be warned that the Red Rock does get pretty filled up specially on the weekends as the Hollywood crowd shuffles in. Also, the bar is not that big...
They have an upstairs private room available if you want to throw some sort of party as we have done in the past for birthdays.
This is a fun place to hang out.

We found this place a couple of years back as we were on the hunt for serigraphs by Josh Agle. This gallery is located inside a book/toy/gift shop. They were the first gallery to show low brow artists like Josh Agle aka Shag.
There is no admission charge for their shows and sometimes the opening nights of certain artists can draw a huge crowd ie lines out the door. The staff at La Luz is always helpful. The owner, Billy Shire, is unassuming and walks around in a wife beater.
They have a website so their current show is available for view. This is a cool place to check out if you are in town.

We went here for my brother's birthday and it was a treat!
When we arrived at the restaurant, it had a wall with a waterfall. It was very classy. The waitstaff was very friendly as he explained to us the procedure. This place has a salad bar and appetizer buffet and the best part of all: they bring you different meats on skewers to your table. Then we ate and the meats kept on coming: tri-tip, skirt steak, tenderloin, lamb, duck, rib steak, bacon wrapped turkey, shish kabobs, etc.
I've never had anything like this before and I liked it. My husband who can get every difficult when it comes to food loved it. We could definitely come again.
The costs is $24.99/person (discounts for kids) and drinks and desserts are separate.

I book rooms for all of our visiting doctors and I keep on getting compliments whenever I book them at the Orlando.
The Orlando, formerly known as the Beverly Plaza, was recently renovated and the new hotel looks very European. The hotel itself is located near the trendy shops along W. 3rd street and the Beverly Center (about 3 blocks). It is a short cab ride to the Sunset Strip and other local social scenes.
The hotel costs around $130/night. There is a restaurant on the ground floor and you have a lot more restaurant option along W. 3rd street.
There are a lot of hotels around this area but this is one of more smaller and cozier hotels.

The best Thai food is located in Thai Town in Hollywood but since moving to the valley earlier this year, going to Hollywood for Thai was no longer an easy trip.
Recently, I found Rincome Restaurant in Northridge. Finally I have good tom yum gai where the soup is actually spicy and sour. You know it's authentic thai if they ask you how you spicy you want your food.
The thai chicken, thai noodles, curries, and soups are equally scrumptious. The thai tea is good. They have different specials for lunch, dinner and all day. Their prices are reasonable. The restaurant is clean and the decor is tasteful. The waitstaff is attentive and helpful. The only drawback is that this restaurant is a neighborhood restaurant meaning it is small. So during the dinner rush, expect a wait.
This is currently the one Thai place that I go regularly and would recommend.

M Modern Gallery is a good reason for visiting Palm Springs for the weekend especially during their annual Tiki weekend.
M Modern Gallery caters primarily to the low brow tiki themed artists such as Shag, The Pizz and Von Franco.
Jay and Nishelle are two of the nicest gallery owners that we have encountered. They have always gone out of their way to assist us in obtaining that rare artist print or limited edition tiki mug.
The next time your in Palm Springs, drop by and say mahalo.

BFSA just opened in April with their Group Show featuring works by some of the hottest low brow artists out there: Gary Baseman, Tim Biskup, Dave Cooper, Glenn Barr, Liz McGrath, Shag, etc.
They continued their spectular opening with solo shows from Gary Baseman, then Tim Biskup and then Dave Cooper.
This gallery also holds book and toy signings as well as art lectures. Annie, the curator, is helpful and courteous. Billy Shire himself is unassuming for a man that gave the low brow art movement its start and helped many of its artists shine.
The gallery is open from Wednesday to Sunday or call for hours of operation. The current artist exhibition is from Dave Cooper who we absolutely love.

In a previous life, I arranged a ton of travel for my boss but when I was recommended Anthony from All Star Travel, he made life easier.
He was able to get me reservations at places that were supposedly booked and was able to get me deals where my boss was able to travel business class at the rate of coach.
This company deals primary with travel for folks that travel on a regular basis. They are extremely helpful and help you in a crisis (and I've had many in the five years of being an executive assistant to an extremely busy brain surgeon).
The folks here are helpful and they do good work.
