Soap Plant carries those hard to find books that the big chains do not carry. They have a wide variety of books from tattoo art to the modern art movement. The bookstore has the feel of an old bookstore that you find off the beaten track. The clerks consists of quite sullen looking young adults who are quite helpful and knowledgeable.
The bookstore also carries other items like collectible toys, serigraphs, prints, cards and gift wrapping supplies. We actually come here once every few weeks to see what they carry. If you want want to make the trek out to Hollywood, come and visit this store.

Dodgers Stadium is located around downtown Los Angeles and has ample parking. The stadium itself feels old and worn. Tickets for the games are reasonable and inexpensive, the concessions on the other hand costs more than the tickets itself.
The downside of this stadium is that they separate each section of the stadium. Once you are on one side of the field, you cannot go to another side especially if you want to order their garlic fries! Plus the bleachers seats are directly in the sun so it is better to get the field seats for a few bucks more. Another downside is that the stadium is located in a not so nice neighborhood.
Plus side to all the seats is that each seat has a really good view of the ballpark.

Angels Stadium is one of the coolest stadiums to watch a baseball game especially if you are in one of the suites; that is really the best way to enjoy any sporting activity.
The boxes have the open air seats that give you a great view of the ballpark as well as the yummy food in the suites. Plus let's not forget the dessert cart, which is always my favorite! Parking is easy and ample and I remembered not being stuck in the parking lot that long. Another plus to this place is that the fact that is located in a pretty nice neighborhood.

The Hollywood Bowl is the place to go locally to listen to live music in an outdoor setting. There are different sections of the amphitheare: the box suites and arc cement seats which we may need to bring a cushion. Many patrons of the bowl bring picnic dinners to the bowl as they listen to the music.
The whole setting is pretty cool especially in the evenings during the summer. This is a totally cool date night place. There is parking available as you drive into the bowl. I would recommend highly.

The Santa Barbara Bowl is one of the coolest places to see live music. The bowl has cement seats in the shape of an arc around the stage. I suggest bringing a cushion for tush. If you do during the summertime, the air is nice and breezy and the stars come out and you get to see and listen to your favorite band.
I saw a concert here and I really enjoyed the experience. The bowl created a nice outdoor atmosphere that was so surreal. The only drawback is that Santa Barbara is about 2 hours away! I like this place but I only save it for special occasions.

The Shrine Auditorium is located in Los Angeles in a very historic looking building. The Shrine hosts various events from concerts, awards and weekend conventions in the other part of their auditorium.
I saw a few concerts here and even from the balcony you can see the stage and the sound is pretty good. This theatre is a tad older looking than most theatres but it is still a nice theatre. There is parking available on the streets and across the street from the theatre.

The Pantages theatre located on Hollywood in Los Angeles. Parking is located around the corner and there is ample parking.
I saw "The Lion King" and "The Phantom of the Opera" as well a couple of concerts here and I had a pretty good view of the stage. The sound was great and the theatre is very pretty.
The neighborhood is kinda scary when you get there and leave after the show. Plus the traffic gets horrendous as the night crawlers come out, on the another note, it makes the night more animated.

I thoroughly enjoy watching the concerts in this theatre. There is no bad seats because this theatre is so small. It makes a concert going experience a lot more cozy and personal. There is available parking down the block in the Ralphs groceries store complex. The only down side is that because the theatre is so small, when the bigger bands or names in music come into town, it is difficult to get tickets because they sell out in seconds. I like come to this theatre for my concerts.

Gelson's is a local chain grocery store in Southern California. The food here is a tad more upscale and they offer gourmet products which means it is a tad more expensive.
The variety is great, their deli section offers tons of yummy easy and convenient foodstuff. The bakery is also great, they have breads from La Brea Bakery delivered daily. Unluckily or luckily for me, since my move there is not a close Gelson's Market. Otherwise, I like coming here.

The Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles is one of the coolest indoor stadium especially if you get to see the games and concerts in the suites. They have special yummies and the don't forget the dessert cart! Outside of the suites is a fully stocked bar and restaurant.
On the other levels, they have tons of various vendors and there are some areas that they bring the drinks to you at your seats. We have gone to the Staples Center for various games and concerts and have enjoyed it each and every time. It is a clean stadium with ample parking.
It gets expensive with the tickets, parking and food what what can you do?
