Chinois is owed by Wolfgang Puck and hence the food here--fusion. The staff is very good. You don't need to ask for more water, they automatically bring it. The food was a bit strange for me. That is probably because I am used to 'real' Chinese food. Just the straight up stuff. Chinois food has what I suppose are called 'twists' to them. It is a more trendy place to eat since it is in the forum shops.

I was walking through the Fashion Show Mall and a guy was standing outside of the store giving away brewed tea samples. I usually never actually buy what stores give out as samples but this tea was good. I bought Rooibos Peach Tea and a mixture called Pina Colada. Think Starbucks passion iced tea but 5 times better. The tea is sold loose and is fairly expensive at an average of $4.50 for 2oz which they say makes 25-30 cups. I have made the tea at home several times but of course it never turns out as good as they made it in the store, but still really good tea.

This car wash called an "Auto Spa and Resort" by the owner is really just a normal car wash where the guys wash and dry your car by hand. However, this place is overpriced in my opinion. Unless that is, if you have one of their grand opening coupons that come in the PennySaver in the El Monte area. I have gone twice since they opened not too long ago using my $1 coupon to get a car wash. This $1 does not include the hand dry but it's been so hot lately, you don' t really need the dry. A regular wash: "Wash, clear coat, underbody rinse, spot free rinse, fragrance" is $12.49 or w/ the coupon $8.49. The nice part about this car wash is the extensive snack shop. They serve Dryer's ice cream and have a full coffee bar, as well as all the normal gas station amenities.

Euro Cafe is a small mom and pop cafe in Claremont next to Vons. There is ample parking in the shopping center. They serve soups, salads, sandwiches, coffees, desserts, and some Italian items. I had a chicken panini and hot Americano coffee. I went one night to study alone and found the place to be very friendly. It's not open late so it's not a late night study place, but good for early to mid evening. There are tables as well as bar style seating and a public bathroom. Coffee runs about the prices of Starbucks and the sandwiches ~$5.

I like the 99 cent store but suggest that everyone stay away from this particular one. It is one of the smaller 99 cent only stores I've been too and it is also one of the dirtier ones. Also, there is not much parking. One time this old lady got out of her car and started yelling at me because somebody else stole her parking spot and I should now back up along with all the cars behind me so she could now take my spot! Needless to say, I would have run her over but decided jail is not the best way to spend your life. Anyway, I would suggest the 99 cent only store on Duarte Rd. near San Gabriel Blvd. in Arcadia. It's much bigger and nicer.

Canter's is one of those places that has been in L.A. for a long time and has become a legend. It's open 24 hrs. which is great. They have a bakery with an extensive selection from which to choose. There are sandwiches, soups, meatloaf, turkey, pastas, etc. The menu is huge which makes it harder to decide exactly what you want. The sandwiches have a ton of meat in them. The prices are what I suspect to be inflated due to the fame of the place.

I remember going to Claim Jumper several years ago and the food was much better. For one, the meals such as the bbq chicken meal came with 1. Chicken 2. Salad 3. Bread 4. Potato. Now you don't get a salad (I used to always get the salad bar b/c that seemed like the best option). You have to pay extra to get a salad now. Also, the price has gone up a few dollars. . . but I guess that's inflation? The food is still pretty good but the meals have gotten smaller and more expensive. Parking is free. It's a casual environment. They still give give a free slice of mud pie for birthdays but don' t sing anymore. How sad.

There is a Boba World inside of the East West Sandwich. Actually the store used to be called Boba World but then the remodeled, added sandwiches, and called themselves East West. I've never had a sandwich because they are way overpriced ~$5 for an Asian sandwich. Whereas you can get the same sandwich at other places for $2. I don't care for their boba drinks because in my opinion they are too sweet. I only go because my friends loved the place and the overly sweet drinks. I prefer the more traditional Thai tea over Strawberry pineapple slushes. But thats just me. If you like sweet fruity drinks then you'll love this place. They only have the large size and that runs about $3.50. Parking is difficult to find but that is expected in Westwood.

They have good Pad See Ew and they give you a lot. I've gotten it with chicken but found that the meat was of poorer quality (i.e. a lot of fat). It gets pretty busy since it is in Westwood and all the UCLA students eat there. Parking is a hassle. Street parking is hard to find but sometimes you'll get lucky and grab a spot. There is a parking structure (I believe on Broxton) but of course they charge. The place is casual.

It's in the same shopping center as Hows Market and a Starbucks.
