I visit this location frequently as its close to work and vist the location in Rockwall as its close to home. This gym is on the second floor in Highland Village shopping center.
They have a wide assortment of machines, probably more than 65 and about a dozen treadmills. The trainers are all certified professionals and offer great programs and support.
The men's locker room has a few showers and enough lockers, I've never had a problem with crowding, but I do go at lunch. I'm not sure what the mornings are like.
Memberships cost me $300 start up and about $65 a month for dues. If you would like a smaller gym chain without all of the hassle of the larger gyms (waiting for machines, etc.) then check out Larry North's.

The ladies are friendly and if you go often enough, they'll even remember how you want your hair cut. Gossip and jokes fly back and forth so it's always fun. I always request Tina or Angel.
They do a ton of kids so they're good at it.
Haircuts are $8 and other services go from there.
Saturdays can be insanely busy, but they open at 7am on weekdays (except Mondays) in case you need something done before work.

Small health food store with friendly service.
The store is mostly supplements but they do carry personal items and some frozen foods. The prices are reasonable (for health food), but the advice is really what's worth the trip. They also have an extensive library of books for sale on health subjects. They also carry natural dog food.
I never feel pushed into anything I don't think I need which sometimes happens at the bigger chain health food stores. The store hours are OK, but they are open on Saturdays.

We started going to this vet because our previous vet was too expensive for our 4 dogs.
This clinic has a great staff who always ask about our pets (by name) and call to follow up after a visit.
Dr. Webb is a great vet and takes the time to explain procedures and options. They do all standard vet services. They have 4 or 5 bays so there is rarely any waiting and it's not hard to get an appointment due to their extended office hours.
Vaccinations and visit fees are the cheapest we've found in the area.
This vet clinic is conveniently located next to Petco.

This little restaurant has tables and booths in a casual environment and some of the cheapest portions of Italian food around.
They have daily lunch specials starting at $3.95 that change daily. The service is good and the food is good too. The house salads are especially good. Food can sometimes be slow but this is rare in my experience.
They offer traditional Italian fare in the Brooklyn pizzeria style.
A great place to hang out for lunch or a Saturday afternoon snack. They also offer take-out.

City Blends is a local sports nutrition store that is run by a bodybuilder/science teacher named Troy. They have all the latest supplements, nutritional products and advice to go with it. You can also get a smoothie made to order. You can relax at the smoothie bar and watch sports on the big plasma TV or lounge at one of the tables in the front of the store.
They carry all the major brands and Troy will hook you up with samples of anything he's got available to try out.
Prices are reasonable, about the same as mail order by the time you include shipping but lower than a retailer like GNC.

This little family-run shop is the perfect casual Thai place for lunch or dinner.
They have great lunch specials for $5.95 that include soup and an egg roll. Dinners start at $6.95.
It has approximately 12 tables in a small strip center. The place is decorated with Thai art, paintings and a giant fish tank.
The food is excellent - presentation is good. They have traditional dishes like Pad Thai and extravagant ones like whole Red Snapper. Almost any dish can be made with your choice of chicken, beef, seafood, or tofu.
We eat there at least once a week, sometimes many more. The restaurant is popular with local residents (some of whom we see all the time) and you can BYOB.

The alternative to the chain mattress stores, this shop is run by two brothers who offer great mattress sets and iron bed frames. The shop is small but they have demo beds of all the major brands including Tempur-pedic.
Delivery is local and fairly quick.
They have great prices and are willing to deal a little to make a customer.
They are located right on the downtown square with parking behind the building.

This great little place serves West-Texas style Mexican food - which means it doesn't have all the grease and heavy feeling of traditional Tex-Mex.
The place is owned and run by a former Dallas cop Michael Baesa and his wife Paige in a converted A-frame house. It has approximately 10 tables in the restaurant. They also do to-go if you want.
Food ranges from traditional mexican fare to specials like brisket tacos in green sauce. All of it is excellent, homemade and made to order. The salsa is killer and the tamales are incredible (you can order these by the dozen as well). They also have a low-fat, vegetarian, and kids menus.
Check this out. You won't be disappointed.

Excellent place if you like the hibatchi experience with everyone sitting around a center grill. They also have a separate sushi bar area and a few tables if you don't want hibatchi, but it's really centered around the hibatchi experience.
The hibatchi food and show is great. Sushi is good though nothing spectacular. They have nightly specials on food and drinks, so check those out.
One of the restaurant rooms has a view of Lake Ray Hubbard and they have a private room for parties. A small U-shaped bar is available and they show sports on a few TV that encircle the bar.
The only sushi bar within 30 miles!
