Bellacino's is a typical stripmall semi-chain restaurant, with one major exception. Their pizza is great, and their grinders are Yummy. Prices are pretty reasonable, and service is decent. The grinders are huge- a whole grinder should satisfy *anyone's* appetite. If you love hot sandwiches, particularly italian-style, Bellacino's is definitely worth checking into!

Royal Thai looks like a typical stripmall restaurant on the outside. That's probably why I didn't try it for so long. Still, some friends were in town recently, and they wanted Thai, so there we were. I have to say, it was great!
The food was excellent, the prices reasonable. Service and ambiance were also great. It's a fairly nice place for a date- rather intimate, not too crowded. Not too crowded is another great point- like most good restaurants in Donelson, it is seldom if ever busy, and there never appears to be a wait.
If you like Thai food, I definitely recommend you give Royal Thai a try!

Vittles strikes you as just what it is as you approach- a local restaurant, just above a greasy spoon in atmosphere. Still, it has outside dining as well as indoor, the staff is very friendly and helpful, and the food is great- not as good as Monell's or the Loveless, but far better than you might expect- one of the better southern meat & three's in town (certainly as good as Cracker Barrel or better). Like most of the better restaurants in Donelson, it too is also never crowded. You can come right in, get seated, and be served right away. They have a great variety of southern dishes, tons of veggie options, and some yummy dessert options (if you manage to have room- good luck with that). The portions are generous- expect to be quite stuffed. A good little family restaurant!

Pizza Pelon is a new place to Donelson. It's decent pizza, but not spectacular; the flavor is very reminiscent of Godfather's. There's good variety, and they have an all-you-can-eat buffet. The prices are comparable to Cici's pizza. The service is good and the owner (who was working behind the counter when I was there) is very friendly to customers and will come out and chat if you engage him, which is a nice touch- I like local businesses and owners interested in their cutomers.
If you're tired of Cici's, want to avoid the crowds that can hit at Cici's sometime, or love the 'local' touch, give Pelon's a shot.

Ruby Tuesday's in general picked up the pace on their menu and selection a while back. They've also upscaled the interiors a bit as well. The result is great. The variety is a better, you can actually get some healthy fare now (broccoli or cauliflower, for example, over potatoes), and the interior makes you feel like you're out for a nice evening. The service is still the same as most chains- good, not dazzling, and like most chains, there can be a wait at times (even in Donelson). Still, one of the better chains, and a pleasant change from the old days of Ruby Tuesday's.
Besides, there's even a song about the one in Donelson... (see the Superficials on iTunes to hear it)... how cool is that? ;)

The Plantation House is very nice place- one of the nicer venues in Donelson. It's not quite as nice as Ellendale's or Darfon's as far as ambiance, but the menu is great, quite varied, the service is good, and it is a bit more 'family oriented' in atmosphere. If I were taking the wife and kids out for a good meal, I'd consider this place. If I were taking the wife out for a romantic dinner while the kids were at grandma's, I'd definitely shoot for Ellendale's or Darfon's first.
As I said, the menu is varied, and the food is great. Prices are reasonable too. Like most of the nice places in Donelson/Hermitage, it too is pretty uncrowded. I've never had a wait, even on a Saturday night. An excellent place to get off the beaten path!

New Dragon Phoenix used to be pretty good fare. I have eaten there twice recently though, and it has been sadly disappointing. The restaurant is a chinese buffet- come in, order your drink, grab a table, grab a plate, and start chowing down. The recent times I've been, though, the food has been out a bit long, the variety seemed to be lacking greatly, and nothing tasted very good in general. The service was borderline- we had to hunt someone down to get chopsticks, for example, but on the other hand, they did help fix a set of chopsticks up for my godson so he could handle them (he's 7), so they do try. I wish they could get back the quality of food that they used to have...

Darfon's is a great mid-range restaurant- I dare say it's as upscale as J. Alexanders and such, the food is perhaps better, it has a very nice outdoor dining area, its convenient, and most importantly, it's far less crowded than the restaurants in the more "mainstream" areas of Nashville like West End, Downtown, etc. It's very quiet and has a nice atmosphere. I've also never run into a wait to be seated- even on a Saturday night. Great restaurant for a casual date. I love their salmon too.
If you want to get out of the crowd and have a nice, intimate meal with someone you love, check out Darfon's!

Ellendale's is a wonderful hidden gem in Donelson. It's relatively convenient, the atmosphere is very romantic and classy, the food is marvelous, the prices are reasonable, it's seldom crowded, the dining areas are segmented enough and small enough there's a sense of intimacy, it's quiet, there's outdoor dining available.
I can't think of a bad thing to say about it except one: I'm not sure it isn't a bit too upscale and quiet for children. If your kids are noisy, folks will notice. Will they complain? I doubt it, but you might feel embarrassed when everyone notices.
If you're looking for a good 'date' restaurant, and you want to get away from the crowds of West End, the Gulch, Green Hills, Cool Springs, etc, then give Ellendale's a try!

Famous Dave's is yummy food. There's a lot of variety in sauces and meats, but little in the side item department. The meats/sauces arent better than any of the other barbecue places, but there's quite a bit of food on your plate. The atmosphere is a little overdone to the 'log cabin' side. My wife finds the place a little disturbing (and so did any dates I took here before I married). Odd place, decent food.
