I have my hubby to thank for finding Spinatos. If you go back to my very first review on JB it was a rave review about Johnnies-Dee’s Pizza. According to that review, they had the best authentic Chicago thin crust in town. Well, Spinatos is definitely up there with Johnnie’s. My hubby asked me which pizza I liked better but it’s really too hard to choose. But I think I would pick Spinatos as a first choice just because they have more regular hours and they are less than 5 minutes away. Johnnie’s is only open 4 days a week in the late afternoon and evenings. Spinatos is just as pricey as Johnnie’s especially with a delivery tip but I know they are a HUGE step above Pizza Hut and Papa John’s so you definitely get pizza that is worth it. The manager wanted to know what I thought of the pizza and I have to say it’s one of the best tasting pizzas I’ve ever had and that includes pizza joints from Chicago…so they will definitely keep a customer, but I just wish we could afford it more often. It’s good to spread the word though. They don’t normally put giardiniera (an Italian hot pepper mix) on pizzas there but they have them available for other items on the menu and were more than happy to put some on our pizza. I love a pizza place that will bend over backwards like that for its customer. They also have other yummy sounding foods on their menu like subs, calzones, pastas and antipasto that I haven’t tried yet but look forward to next time. Check out www.spinatos.com for more info on locations and menu items.

I really love finding a good deli and NJ Italian is definitely a great one, I only wish they had more. LOL But what they don’t have in space they make for with greeting you like they were part of your family and also not to mention some great quality made breads, cheeses, sausages and pastries. The prices are high for some foods such as the imported deli meats and low for others like some of their homemade fare so it evens out. Considering I’m in Phoenix I expect to pay for some good, decent and authentic Italian. The owner told me he gets some of his recipes from customers that are willing to share with him and he’s also very willing to make something to the customers’ liking. You want a spicier sausage, he’ll do it for you. Definitely try some of their homemade mozzarella, it’s to die for. Check out more about New Jersey Deli in Phoenix on www.google.com

If you are looking for some baby items and THEN SOME…Other Mothers is definitely a place to stop by especially if you are trying to be frugal. They were “Best of Phoenix” in the New Times (local Phoenix paper) this year and when you get that accolade then you are going to be busy and probably filled to the brim with baby items. So when I brought my three bags worth of baby clothes I had no luck with them taking them. They said they were "not in style" plus not in good condition. I don’t know about the style but most were in excellent condition because I never used them or they were actually purchased at other thrift stores by relatives so they must have been decent. I was shocked they didn't take anything at all. On my way home I noticed that nothing looked like it had been gone through so I don't know if they just took a peek and saw what they didn't want and that was that? That was a bit strange. I guess they are so busy now that that is what they do. I looked throughout the store and they have plenty of everything…baby clothes including holiday ones, maternity, toys, strollers, gates…some prices seemed decent from what I saw. It looked like they have a nice selection so I may go there I the future to buy things there but I don’t think I’ll bother with trying to trade there for a while.

At last, my hubby and I got to go out to eat…at a sit down restaurant….without Henry, our 10 month old son. It was our anniversary and a coworker of my hubby’s gave him a gift card to Chili’s. Grandma and Grandpa babysat Henry for the evening while we got to do the ever so rarity of doing a dinner and a movie. The last few times I’d been to Chili’s which have been a looooong time haven’t been memorable…they weren’t bad, I just don’t remember my visits and the food must have been ok. This time we went we were seated within a minute of walking in the door. This was around 5pm on a Saturday so that’s great in my opinion. Our server was one of those very outgoing and often stopping by to see how we were doing. He was also one of those servers that likes to talk and talk and tell you things that he would tell his best friend like how annoying another girl is that he works with. LOL That’s ok though because I’d rather have that than no conversation. The food came within about 15 minutes. My hubby got a steak and I got a pasta dish and both were very good. Chili’s has a lot more offerings than what I remember last time, at least with the appetizers, and I’m a big appetizer eater! Hehe Also, to me it seemed the prices were taken down a notch than what I’m used to so that was a bonus.

Tis the season for trick or treating and candy galore! Go ahead, check out all those other seasonal Halloween shops around the area, then come to Easley’s Fun Shop! If you are looking for a great costume, not something that looks like the generic of a generic this is the place to be. Easley’s has been around for decades so you know they have a wide fan base by now that keeps coming back. If you want a hat, they have hundreds of hats to go with your particular costume and the same goes with wigs, glasses, masks, you name it. They have all the latest spooky decorations or just things to spook others. Heck, they even have some mascot costumes that you can buy or rent. Oh, and they of course have a section for the kids. And lastly, dressing rooms to see how scary you look. The prices are pretty decent so definitely stop buy even if you already are done with finding costumes and decorating the house, you will most definitely find something else here.

Walgreens has always been a preference with my family through the generations. My experience today may be a good reason why. I had gone to Osco the last few years for prescriptions and the one closest to me closed down and despite there seeming like there’s an Osco at every single corner of the city including CVS and Walgreens, the one I needed to go to know was too out of my way.
I got an offer in the mail from Walgreens a couple months ago which I held onto until now. The offer was a $20 check to use for whatever merchandise you wanted in the store (not counting prescriptions) for changing your prescription from another pharmacy chain. Walgreens looks like they want to take advantage of the CVS/Osco take over and it looks like they are doing a great job of it. The service at the pharmacy was great, no problems with registering with them. They were at first unfamiliar with the check but the main pharmacist there knew about it and resolved that. When I came back later to pick up my prescription (a couple hours) I encountered great customer service from everyone else in the store. I bought some toys with my $20 check and one of them was supposed to be free. They didn’t ring up correctly and they apologized many times and corrected the situation within 5 minutes. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is because the star seems limited with some merchandise than most Walgreens.

Every time I think of great ice cream I always think of Mary Coyle in central Phoenix. I've had ice cream from many chains out in Phoenix and Coldstone is my second favorite because I get to choose my yummy toppings and they give you a lot for the price but Mary Coyle takes the cake as far as taste goes. They have won many “Best of” awards in the city and rightfully so. They’ve been making homemade ice cream in there establishment since 1951 of traditional and original flavors of ice cream (see the list on their website). They are like a 1950’s diner and also serve sandwiches, soups and salads. I haven’t tried any of the meals but I can only bet they are as yummy as the ice cream. A little warning though, the ice cream has a very high percentage of butter fat, 16 or 19% which is so bad for your health but it makes the ice cream that much better. This is the only Mary Coyle so I'd definitely recommend visiting there if you ever stop through Phoenix. To find out a little more about Mary Coyle go to www.marycoyle.net

I can't believe I'm the first person giving a review on this! LOL You are all missing out on some great food if you haven't been to Eagle Restaurant. I lived less than a mile from this restaurant for until a few years ago and I can’t count the number of times I have been there. Now I absolutely LOVE gyros (properly pronounced yeeros with a roll of the r) and I had them at many different places but Eagle has hands down the best gyros I’ve ever tasted. I normally get a platter that has all the fixings with your gyro with some fries and I just have to order whatever the homemade soup of the day is, it’s excellent also. Gyros aren’t the only food Eagle has, they have all the typical, yet not any less delicious, Chicago fanfare like hot dogs, polish sausage and Italian beef. I was visiting my dad for a few days a couple weeks ago and got lunch there and my hubby was blown away by their beef and sausage sandwich. It hasn’t changed one bit. The restaurant has been owned by the same Greek family for years. I heard the father retired and handed the business down to his son. He sure seems to keep up with the tasty traditions.

Kohl’s is expanding more and more throughout the U.S. so I hope there is one near you. There is always a sale going on and there is always some great clearance buys there. You have no idea how hard it is to not to spend money there. LOL Another good thing about it is the ever growing amount of different merchandise, especially clothing. The store has everything to please all ages and most sizes. I’m a stickler when it comes to a store having certain sizes because my hubby is just barely out of range for a certain size when it comes to pants but the shirts they win brownie points for because they carry tall sizes.
I definitely recommend Kohl’s for some great deals. Also check out Kohl’s website. www.kohls.com They often have some great deals on shipping, especially around Christmas.

Phoenix in the summer is downright horrible. Not only does the temperature reach up to the 110’s at times but we also get monsoon season which raises the humidity and makes those high temperatures feel more miserable.
One of the best ways to escape the weather here other than running from one air conditioned place to another is to go tubing down the Salt River. I live in central Phoenix and it takes about a half hour to get to. Considering we live in a desert landscape, that’s great that there is something so close by to go to.
If you have enough people to work with and some of your own tubes you don’t need to spend a penny to go here and enjoy the Salt River. However, if you want the convenience of just renting a tube there and getting a shuttle ride there it‘s a $13 fee per person. It’s $10 if you already have tubes. It sounds like a lot but the price hasn’t changed for years and going down the Salt River is one nice long ride for that price. You can also choose how long you want to tube down the River. They have start and drop off points that can last from 2 hours up to 5 hours. You can come to “forks” in the river if you want to go through some small rapids or just continue a leisurely float down the river. Just be careful either way and bring some shoes or sandals that you wouldn’t mind losing because there are some rocks and sometimes the tide can be lower than normal. You are allowed to bring food and beverages (no glass) but you are expected to keep the river clean so bring a trash bag. Bring some towels to dry off with and towels or small sheets to lay on your tube, they can get very hot in the sun. The best part about the Salt River tubing is the location. You can tube through the mountains out here and enjoy the landscape.
Oh, and don’t forget your sunscreen!
