The campus is small and sits on a large hill. The scheduling is flexible, with both day and evening classes, and the price per unit is easy on the pocket. There are several study abroad programs and a biotech certification program. Also, this is one of the few places that offer glass-making classes.

I've been to the cafe in Venice, CA (which has since closed) several times and each time I walked away with the most wonderful hazelnut gelato I have ever tasted. The pear is a close second, but all the gelatos are excellent. In fact, everything here is excellent. Try a sandwich, a dessert, definitely try the gelato – you won’t be disappointed.

I can’t say enough good things about Joy Yee’s Noodles in Chinatown. This place has the best mango bubble tea!!!! Some friends and I decided to try the Taste of Chicago food festival, but we ended up coming here three times. Our rice dishes were savory, though we kept eyeing the soup noodles at the table next to us. The prices are affordable and the portions large. Plus, the menu comes with pictures so you know what to look forward to.

If you're looking for unique chocolates with an exotic flair, come to Chauo for a taste of Venezuela. They have a tasty array of bite-sized chocolates ranging from pralines and butter creams to lemon and passionfruit to goat cheese – don’t be afraid to sample. The desserts look almost too good to eat. They also sell hot chocolate and mixes.

Located near I-805 and Clairemont Mesa Blvd, Souplantation is a healthy and inexpensive buffet that offers lots of good food. The first thing you see when you walk thru the door is the salad bar (my favorite is the Chinese chicken salad). There are six types of soup on any given day (I recommend the chicken noodle and corn chowder), as well as pasta dishes, pizzas, baked potatoes, a variety of breads and muffins (give the blueberry muffins a try), fruits and dessert. A very filling experience.

Anthony's Fish Grotto is right on the water, north of Seaport Village on Harbor Drive. A bit pricey, but well worth it. The seafood is fresh and excellently prepared. Can buy I get that sun dried tomato butter spread in bulk? Calling ahead for a reservation, especially on the weekends, can save you a long and tantalizing wait.

A so-called "Soybean Soup Specialty Restaurant," Tofu House is a great Korean eatery. The menu offers a wide variety of tofu dishes that are served with rice and various pickled condiments (and kimchee, of course). Add an egg and let it cook in your bubbly tofu. Or try a Korean stone bowl dish– toss in an egg and mix, and the heat from the bowl fuses everything into a soft and gooey spoonful.

Great food for a great price. The pho is my favorite, but they also serve a variety of cold noodle and rice dishes and exotic drinks. The spring rolls are refreshing and healthy, and the dipping sauce is da bomb. They are open every day until 9PM, except for Fridays and Saturdays (10PM), but I wish this place were open later.

The staff is friendly and the service excellent. Be sure to try the desserts – the flaming bananas are quite a treat.
