This place doesn't look like a typical LA liquor store. Walk in and you'll be greeted not by chips and candy, but by liquor. Wine selection is good, but their Beer selection is what really counts. Also stocks liquor, all at prices which aren't supermarket cheap, but are good for the convenience of the place. If you're looking for a deal their tall cans are a steal practically. Also sells smokes and has a decent amount of sodas as well.

I can't even begin to praise Leslie's work. She's the only groomer allowed anywhere near my dog, and she'll likely be the last groomer I'll ever use as long as she is in business. She does amazing work, and charges amazing prices. Try her once, and I guarantee you'll be as hooked as I am. I recommend her to everyone and no matter what kind of dog, long hair, short hair, big or small she takes care of them all. She is only open half of the week, so call first and make an appointment. Saturday and Sundays get very busy so be warned your dog might be there for a few hours.

If you drive by here at around 8 in the morning you'll see a line out the door. That line tells you Gage is doing something right. What is the line? People desperately in need of a refill on their pills? Nope, its people paying their utility bills. Gage takes all kinds of payments, and this is the only reason it might just make it now that sav-on has moved in down the street. I've been here to pay bills many times, and the process goes very smoothly. Great if you live nearby, but don't venture down here if you're not familiar with the area.

When this place says they provide tackle for the big fish they're not kidding. 200+ pound fish are not all that strange for Baja fish customers. They also have information on where and when to go out on a 2-3 day charter trip. Check them out if you're local and pick up some gear. They'll answer any question they throw at you, and if your catches are good enough you might end up on the wall.

I should start by saying that if you don't like to dig for your treasures then this isn't the place for you. If you're like me however and want to find that diamond in the rough then check out this place. You never know what you'll find here, but for Antiques I like to shop on Wednesdays. Open 7am to 4pm the Roadium has everything you'd ever need, and plenty of antiques and collectibles as well. Sewing machines, typewriters, bar signs, tables, and desks are just some of the items i come here to buy. Open every day.

15 hole golf course?? Thats not a typo. This used to be a full 18 holes back when it opened, forever ago, but due to LAX's last renovation three of the holes here were swallowed up to make room for more runway. What that leaves is problematic in two ways. First, no one I know really likes to play 15 holes of golf. Its hard to judge your score, you're not really into it, and even those 15 holes seem short. I'd almost rather they made the course a long 9 hole, but hey, you get what you get. Second there is an unbelievably annoying amount of noise from planes taking off and landing all the time. What this combination makes for is a nice course which plays terrible. There are plenty of tough holes, dog-legs and water hazards, but the noise is just too much for me. Played here twice, but couldn't take it any more. I believe they offer night play as well, but I don't think adding any more difficulty to an already demanding course is necessary.

As public courses go this place is great. With a small par 3 9 hole and a long 18 put together you can decide which you'd like to play while eating lunch at the clubhouse. Either course makes for fun play but I'm partial to the 9 hole. Two or three holes are a little close to Redondo Beach Blvd, and road noise is annoying when trying to tee off, but for the cost I can't get a better play. No need for carts on the short 9 hole, but the long 18 sure feels long on a hot day. Bring plenty of water, even though the course has coolers every few holes.

Without playing an entire 18 Harbor Park gives you that feel of playing a long course, while still keeping your feet from aching and your wallet from hurting. A few nice par 4's and two long 5's make for a fun course, at over 3,000 yards you get a decent workout in, and there is no mistaking this as a pitch-n-putt kind of course. Too bad there is no back 9 as an option, but other than that the fees are low, they do rent carts and there is a driving range on premises.

While the Banning house is just down the street from the Drum Barracks Civil War Museum, the two really do play well off of each other. There is a trolley leaving the Banning House for the Barracks so seeing both Museums makes for a very nice day. The Museum is a well preserved civil war era Army barracks. While touring the Barracks the importance of California to the Civil War is outlined, and a nice little history lesson is learned as well.

Enter the Banning Residence Museum (called the Banning House) and you'll be transported back to the 1800's in Los Angeles. This place not only shows how the rich lived back then, but it also discusses the founding of the LA harbor, the expansion of the city, as well as the civil war, California's military and other very neat inventions of the time. Be sure to go downstairs for a re-enactment and check out the photos of the mansion and Los Angeles Harbor. Also some information on Catalina Island. Very neat way to spend a Saturday. Admission is free. Also see the review of the Civil War Barracks.
