Nora's tailor shop delivers handmade clothing and gorgeous LA fashions that arrive within a week to be fitted to your specifications. An accomplished seamstress, Nora will help you find the perfect gown and shoes to match, make repairs and alterations on everyday clothing, or direct you to other appropriate retailers if she can't be of service. Service is prompt and professional, reasonably priced, and high quality.
I ordered a custom bridesmaid dress online from an overseas source, and it didn't fit. Three weeks before the wedding, I stumbled into Nora's shop, desperate to find something in the short amount of time I had left! She quickly assessed my figure, picked out the perfect dress, and ordered it in my size. When it came in a week later, she altered the straps and added darts, reinforced the ribbon rosebuds that decorated the bodice, and sent me to a place done the road where I snapped up a pair of heels for $10. Her motherly advice and professional expertise were above and beyond my expectations.

This is very stylish and contemporary place - z restored New England Barn with exposed beams, warm tones and crisp linens, square plates and matching glasses. The ambiance is warm and elegant with impeccable service. Oh, and the food is great! Fine cuts of meat with gourmet sauces. We went for the hoildays before Christmas, and the afternoon was marred only by repetitive CD of Elvis singing carols.
The feta and goat cheese crostade was overflowing with cheese and crisp with garnished with chunks of fresh tomato ($8). For my meal, I had crabcakes, and they were perfectly seasoned and served on fresh greens and a tasty romoulade.
Dessert were 2 oz servings in tiny glass cups of mousses, cheesecakes and other 4 bite delicacies. Neat concept! They bring out a tray and you select right from it. Coffee service is elegant - 3 types of sugar, giant selection of tea, and delicious coffee.
We were so impressed we returned for New Years Eve, already plotting what to order from the diverse menu, only to discover they had a function menu. For $65 we recieved complimentary champagne garnished with a strawberry, and a choice of one from three appetizers, two salads, 5 entrees, and two desserts.
Our table of five sampled scallops wrapped in bacon, shrimp cocktail and crabcakes. I selected the Hampton salad (spinach with cranraisens and pecans and blue cheese), and for my entree, I tried the prime rib with wine reduction, broccoli and a potato cake that tasted like the cheap toaster hash browns my mother in law buys by the dozen. The steak was excellent and perfectly cooked.
We all chose the chocoate and raspberry mousse for dessert (the chocolate was a bit gritty) accompanied with a white chocolate lattice.
The meal was leisurely and well paced and the staff in good spirits. The festive jazz was a little loud for such a small room, and the band was limited in ability to fill requests.
Overall the food is quite good but it doesn't match up to the look and service of the place.

Knowledgeable and friendly staff will let you taste before you buy, help plan a menu or tasting and remember you when you return for more cheese! The variety is incredible - over 130 cheeses - and there is always something new. Some of the fantastic varieties I have tried include:
* A buttery rich triple creme Brie from France;
* An aged Irish cheddar;
* A sweet and crumbly Danish;
* A goat cheese with two layers separated by ash; top layer from the afternoon's milking and the bottom from the morning's;
* A soft cheese with chunks of pineapple that I can't recall the name of;
* A tangy manchengo from Spain
* A salty rich bleu with a smear of chocolate!
* A nutty buttery Swiss
* A peppered Brie, spicy and spreadable
* A beer ripened cheese
Jams, mustards, pates and crackers to go with are also sold here, and range from the familiar to exotic. You can stock up for a party, or buy just enough for a impromptu picnic.
The prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is welcoming, even for a cheese novice - no cheese snobs here!
A tiny Russian deli at the rear of the store imports world meats, so now you can add a variety of sausages to your cheese tasting

This pizza joint/amusement center/arcade/restaurant is always busy on Saturday afternoons, but never so packed that you can't find a place to sit and eat your pizza, or so busy you have to wait in line to try a favorite game. Parents and children who arrive together are stamped when they come in the door, and on the way out the staff verifies that the children are leaving with the adults they came with. Children under 18 cannot come in unaccompanied by an adult, making this a safe, family oriented place.
Most games allow players to win tickets that can be redeemed for small prizes. All games give you at least one ticket after putting your token in, and all games cost just one token. The best deals on tokens can be got at the food counter, with deep discounts on quantity - comparatively, the token machines are a rip off. The last time I visited with my 3 year old twin niece and nephew, every game was working, and when the Deep Freeze one we played gave us a 250 ticket bonus and the machine ran out of tickets, the attendant not only re-supplied the machine, but gave us a bonus 100 for reporting it and waiting for him to fix it to get our tickets! The female attendants wereunprofessionally ill-behaved whilst on their breaks as we were leaving, smoking, cussing and generally not behaving in a family friendly way.
It's great for all ages because there are two of every thing - a mini cheese factory, bop 'em, bicycle/helicopter, and basketball free throw, just to name a few - so the big kid games that the babies are drawn to have a similar game that is just their size. My nephew loved the skeeball, and my niece just wanted to pump in tokens and see tickets come out. The rollicking rides with characters were also a favorite.
One notable thing about this location is the Cheese Factory is suspended from the ceiling, because of the smaller space, and adults definitely can't fit through those tubes. There isn't a traditional arcade either - the focus is definitely the younger set, with computerized coloring and matching games.
The appearances by Chuck E. Cheese are only once every 2 hours or so, but the costumed employee made an effort to connect with every child.
The food isn't bad, but it's way overpriced, as are the ticket prizes. We bought cotton candy for the road and ate elsewhere. We blew $70 on tokens and got nearly 1800 tickets, which yielded 2 purple plastic slinkies, and 2 mini basketballs.

This is one of the best sushi bars in the area - always very fresh! They have a little bit of everything - shumai, hibatchi, bento boxes, sashimi, stir fry, and more. We've tried the chicken teriyaki, beef with broccoli, hibatchi chicken, and yellowtail, salmon, & tuna sushis. Creative specials include a nice sampling of vegetarian rolls, such as sweet potato and cucumber, and numerous daily specials.
Lunch specials are a great bargain - 3 sushi rolls with soup or salad for under $10. When you eat in, dessert of fresh pineapple and fortune cookies are complimentary.
The restaurant is spotless, roomy, and the walls are decorated to showcase art of auction by local artists. A full liquor license, ample parking across the street, and friendly staff make this one of my local favorites.

Went here with my family of 8 for dinner this weekend. The menu is mostly pub food and pizza and some Italian and Greek specialties thrown in. We split buffalo chicken tenders, which I thought were a perfect blend of spicy, salty and sweet, but hubby thought they could have been hotter. They were accompanied by a packaged bleu cheese salad dressing with no discernible chunks of bleu cheese in it, and no celery or carrot sticks. We tried the mozzarella sticks (standard, marinara a bit watery - I like chunky and zesty), and zucchini sticks (bit limp).
For dinner, my brother and his wife shared a salami and pepper pizza with their kids, hubby tried the chicken parm with ziti and ate about 1/4 of it, and I tried the moussaka, which was the pretty terrible: the eggplant still had the seeds in it, the beef was gritty, the potato was mashed not sliced, the cream sauce was very heavy, and the tomato sauce topping was not in the menu description! It came with a medley of seasoned frozen vegetables cooked to sogginess. The lemon-chicken-rice soup was not lemony enough, and the Greek salad was mostly iceberg with a boring red cider vinegar dressing.
My father had the lasagna, which was a mammoth portion but not terrific, and my mom had chicken and broccoli Alfredo. We all ate less than half our meals and took them boxed to be polite, but they went right in the trash. My nice had a side salad topped with grilled chicken, and ate most of it - they were very kind to create a child sized portion. The waitress was very nice and when she saw the kids sharing my orange slice garnish brought them a whole plate. The service was stellar throughout the meal.
All this, plus a pitcher of beer, 6 drinks and 2 sodas was a whopping $150 for the worst meal I have ever eaten. The pizza was ok and the beer cold, but if you want ethnic cuisine, try a specialty restaurant.

Sushi, curry, stir fry... it's all here and all good. They do a bustling lunchtime business due to the very reasonably priced sushi combos and bento boxes (a lot of food for the price!), and you can sit at the bar, tables or booths. Everything is fresh and delicately seasoned, but I've had better miso soup elsewhere. The choice of brown or white rice is a considerate touch. The only complaints are that the green tea isn't complimentary, and the chef never remembers to skip the roe on my california rolls no matter how many times I say, "no tobiko." The staff are attentive but not overtly friendly. Parking is just up the block, but you can cut through the alley to get to the entrance. A good deal and solidly consistent cuisine.

Lots of hearty vegetarian offerings can be found here, including a cornucopia of sandwich stuffings comprised of vegetables and gourmet cheeses such as roasted eggplant with mozzarella and tomatoes and greens, roasted red peppers with goat cheese, and Brie and arugula.
Traditional turkey and prosciutto are with the more inventive, such as egg salad with asparagus and lemon caper tuna with tomato. Most combinations are available on your choice of Panini/Baguette, Wrap, Foccacia, or whole wheat bread, in whole and half sizes, ranging from $4-7. The half sizes, accompanied by chips and a soda, make a meal.
Not in the mood for a sandwich? Salads, a variety of bruchettas, specialty pizzas and pastas round out the menu.
A cheap and hearty brunch menu is served on the weekends, with frittatas and egg sandwiches part of the offerings. Order at the counter and take a seat in the cramped-for-space dining room, and the friendly staff will bring your order right to your table. Be prepared to bus your own dishes.

The decor and music immediately takes you to Morocco - cushions on the benches against the wall, Moroccan art, tile-top tables, and sitar music. On my last visit we tried three appetizers: Mazza ($7), a combination plate with at least three types of savory olives, a moderately spicy, thick hummus, babaganoush, and roasted red peppers; an assortment of cigaros ($10), deep fried filo wraps rolled with stuffings of seafood, vegetables and feta or hummus and, cut on a bias; and mushroom ravioli ($10), a bit bland in flavor, but topped with a delicious lemony buttery pomegranate sauce added a nice kick and we mopped up every bit with the accompanying triangles of warm pita bread .
The rack of lamb ($24) was flavored with shallots and thyme in a rich red wine reduction gravy garnished with onions and hard boiled eggs. A trio of lamb, Merguez sausage and chicken kabobs ($17) came atop a rice pilaf strewn with roasted vegetables, and the mahi mahi ($19) was served with perfectly seasoned slices of potatoes and crisp asparagus spears. The menu includes steak, and seafood, soups, and a variety of traditional curry and couscous dishes. Too full for dessert - maybe next time! We have to go back, because the promised belly dancer (9 PM on Fri & Sat nights) was a no-show, an occurrence that the manager assured us was a rarity.

50's diner style ambiance with basic comfort food: meatloaf dinners, liver & onions, club sandwiches, grilled cheese, homemade soup and chili. Mirrored surfaces are spotless and the stereo system pipes in oldies. The service really is fast, the eggs are good, and the waitstaff is friendly and good-humored. Chef cooks to order.
