The Olympic stuff is great by the way, you can ask a friendly restaurant guy about buying it. We haven't done that yet (mainly because we don't know what to do with 10 gallons of ice cream), but I think that is the best in town in reality. We can get ours from our friendly neighborhood restaurants. I can send you a name if you want.
Finally, I hate to bring it up, but we've made our own and if you've never had real vanilla with flower pedals ice cream made by yourself, you haven't lived. I can dig up the recipe but we had it one New Years and it was awesome.

Of course, if you really need a good repair, private mail me Andy, I'm pretty good at it!
Also, if you have a gnarly repair, then try Randy over at Gregg's Bellevue Cycle.

What a terrific place. A traditional locally owned bookstore. I highly recommend you frequent it before it really disappears. It like Powell's in Portland are really unique institutions. The cafe downstairs is also wonderful and on a cold winter day, nothing quite beats buying a book and then heading for a coffee downstairs. Truth be told, I hit the Bailey Coy on Capital Hill much more often because it is closer and parking is easier, but if you downtown, Elliot Bay isthe place to be!
It is the antidote to Barnes & Noble in the same way that Greenlake Cycles is the antidote to Performance Cycle or the Bert's Apple is to Safeway.

OK, as I mentioned to Katherine, it ain't the best place, but if you've got screaming kids and it isn't crowded (nearly never) it isn't too bad. After all, it is hard to ruin noodles, although truthfully, they do overcook them.
I'll have to give China Village a try. Or go to Blue C Sushi close by.

An awesome spot, no pun intended, the eggs are particularly good. Try the baked eggs and the cinnamon rolls are superb.

Each dish in this prix fixe menu is astoundingly inventive and always changing. This is not the faint of heart, but for folks who can appreciate new and interesting flavors all the time.
When we went for instance, the between dish refresher wasn't a traditional salad, but instead we had a tomato foam. A flavor richness I can still remember.
As the name suggests, everything is about fresh herbs and great flavors. I highly suggest, you book a room at the Willows for afterwards since you'll be drinking the perfectly matched wine for hours through the night.
Reservations are nearly impossible to get, but try it for that ultra special occasion with folks who appreciate rich inventive and even fun flavors and cooking.

These are just perfect for summer cruising in the San Juans. Anacortes is a great jumping off point to go nearly anywhere from the Gulf Islands to the San Juans. Many boaters think the summers here are paradise on earth.
I'd have to agree!

Roche Harbor is a huge complex that features a big marina, restaurants and various accomodations. Its a summer time paradise in the San Juans.
The best way to experience it is to take or charter a boat up there. The marina there is one of the largest, but the best thing about it is that there are cottages to stay (they are very rustic, but have a huge swimming pool) and there is a complete set of restaurants and services.
Nothing quite beats a long day in the San Juans followed by pulling up to the marina for a beer and fish and chips. The only issue is that it is insanely crowded, so the best time to get a slip is mid AM when everyone else is taking off.
So if you don't have a boat, I'd suggest staying somewhere higher end (Friday Harbor House) and making the day trip out to Roche. If you've got a boat, then head for the slips there.

While not as truly amazing as the Inn at Langley (they belong to the same group), this is a good place for a getaway. Its on San Juan Island, so has all the charm, but it is really a more urban setting. It is very compact and has a decent restaurant, but what sets it apart are the great rooms and the incredible views. Terrific and comfortable is what I'd call it.
The restaurant is good, but not great, but it is one of the most comfortable places to stay., The best thing is that you can take the passenger ferry and not have to take a car. On the really busy weekends in the summer that's a huge plus where the car wait can be hours.
It really is a 3 1/2 stars as a retreat, but let's give it 4.
