Therapy over on Valencia Street has a great selection of cute bags and clothes. Also, some pretty cute jewelery and little gifty things. Some of the stuff is expensive, however, make sure and check the clearance rack for t-shirts and skirts. They have a lot of Paul Frank which I don't personally care for, though some of the slippers and undies are cute. The staff is nice and the bonus is they have a housewares store right next door. Cute retro-furniture, very pricey. Look around though for home accessories (ie. glasses, etc.), sometimes incredible deals can be found.

This is one of my favorite bookstores because they are so nice. The manager is so helpful and knowledgeable. Selection is great, they always have the very newest releases as well as some really funny reading. I like that it is not too crowded so there is never a rush to hurry and get going. Grab a book and go get coffee next door. It's Pac Heights, so the people watching is excellent.

One night at dinner with friends I was complaining that my refrigerator had stopped. No amount of kicking or plugging and unplugging was fixing it. I was grudgingly coming to the realization that I'd have to buy a new fridge. My friends became excited and told me to go over to House of Louie in the morning. The next morning we set off with the scent of ripe food wafting behind us out the door. We had an idea about the general vicinity and were able to locate it finally. It is in the same block as that Trader Joe's downtown, but not actually in the same plaza. The guys at Louie's were awesome. We found rock star parking and fed a half hour into the meter. It was a waste of quarters. We literally went in, checked out the inventory which had plenty of different price ranges represented, chose, gave them a card and left. When I went out to my car, we had been in the store exactly seven minutes. I got a beautiful new refrigerator delivered for a small fee the following day.

It seems to me that San Francisco is full of eclectic dressers. Sometimes, however, people look amazingly similar as you walk down the street. This deep Mission clothing store/studio has tons of cute things that you will probably never see anybody else wearing. I have had incredible luck finding extremely unique jewelery and handbags. Dema's designs are feminine and fun but not too girly. Sizing runs a little on the small side, clothes are form fitting but flattering. Make sure and check-out the Seatbelt bags if you go.

City kids is a great store to go to when you are pregnant and you have no real concept of just how much stuff you will need to take care of your impending child. They have a vast selection of car seats, cribs, clothes, strollers, etc. All the things you will need and more. Prices are a bit on the high side, however, when it comes to sheer volume they have a ton of stuff. Service can be a bit inattentive, however, it is a tough job dealing with all those hormonal gals. Make sure and grab a snack at Cheers across the street afterward. You deserve the waffles.

B & B Pet Supplies did not get an excellent rating for the simple reason that it just has too much stuff. It is bursting with all different types of supplies for all different types of animals. The prices are phenomenal. Check out the dog food in bulk. Need a cat toy? They have a billion. As I mentioned before, with all this stuff, it can get crowded , however, dig around long enough and you will find exactly what you are looking for. Even more common, you may find something you absolutely have to have that before your trip to B & B you did not know even existed.

I love my son's doctor. Actually, I love my son's doctors nurse practitioner. Dr. Mirviss is a great lady with the staff to match. She has been my son's doctor for almost ten years. She was the first doctor he saw after he was born. Along with her staff, Dr. Mirviss has helped me with my son tremendously. Whether it is a rash or a belly ache, she always makes you feel like she has all the time in the world for you. Bedside manner is priceless I think when your child is sick and you are upset and worried. She is a doctor who has proved herself so many times over the years with the accuracy of her diagnosis, and her recommendation for treatment. I can't recall a time when she did not figure out right away what issues my son was having. Conveniently located in Noe or over in Pac Heights.

I am blessed to have a gigantic backyard. I live right at the beach though, so fog is an issue. One year I tried to grow a Meyer Lemon tree which would have been fine - if I lived in the Mission. In my micro climate in the city it is regularly chilly and foggy. Plants have to be hearty. The folks at Sloat understand this, they are located at the beach as well. Helpful and informative, they can steer you towards the right plants for your space in your neighborhood. I never seem to catch a sale, however, prices are very affordable and the location is so convenient. Thanks to there advice I have had beautiful cala lilies this season. Check it out.

When my darling son was ready for kindnergarten I was thrilled to have a school right across the street from my home. Then I started to get disgruntled. How many worksheets can an elementary student due? After attending a potluck at the school of a friend's child, I decided to take a tour. I was thrilled. After nine long months on a waiting list my son was admitted to Creative Arts Charter School. Not part of the school district and primarily funded through grants and parental/community donations, we found a welcoming community. It is an art based curriculum, and we joke it is a bit of organized chaos. However, my son is excelling in subjects now that were causing him a lot of difficulty in the past. Something has clicked and he is able to really learn the basics through art including math. The school recently signed a lease so they will be in a different location starting at the end of the month by city hall. I urge any parents not satisfied with their child's school to give charter schools a peek.

I fell in love with this place many years ago when I was new to the city. It seemed so glamorous with it's cool hair folks and excellent view. Back then, I could only afford to be a hair model. The cut and color I received on that first visit kept me going back for years. Now I pay, oh yes, I pay, however, it is worth it. They may still do the hair model thing, definitely call and find out if cost is a factor. It really is worth it. Of course, I am an ultra bleach blond, so I am a slave to my hair. Cowboys and Angels is so fun, it takes the edge off the fact that I have to spend so much to maintain my "natural beauty".
