This can be a wonderfully romantic place to go--when its not too crowded!! Which means, don't go for the really popular shows, go instead to hear the Chicago Orchestra on a Tuesday and spread out on the grass, get out the grapes, cheese, crackers, and wine, and lay out under the stars listening to beautiful music with the one you love! Ravinia even has its own Metra stop.

A great shopping mall right on Michigan Avenue. It has glass elevators, and a fun escalator where you can play with shooting water droplets. There is a food court on the 2nd floor, that is not your usual foodcourt-no McD's or subway here. You get better quality food (at higher prices). There is a wide selection of stores here-some of the same ones you'll find on Mag mile-but if its raining outside, its better to just go here.

I've only been inside several times, but it has a very eclectic interior (to match the strange gray exterior). I ate dinner and then watched a show in the ground floor room and it was so intimate, it was great! I definitely recommend going to a concert at this venue!

Whirly ball-you sit in a bumper car, and try to put a whiffle ball in a basketball hoop. Its really fun!! Just don't leave your car keys in your pocket-I did and the seatbelt would push them into my leg every time I got bumped-OUCH! This is an activity where you go with a bunch of your friends or people from work and rent the game area for an hour or so.

I've gone to several shows THAT I'VE LOVED. I thought they outdid themselves with the scenery and costumes and music. I've also been to a couple that were minimalist, which I definitely did not enjoy as much. Every seat in the house is fantastic. They have a coat check, they offer drinks and ice cream during the break.

I believe you can rent out the room with the bowling lanes, so it can be pretty fun for a group outing-even work related. I remember they had actual people acting as the ball return, and if you were really nice to them (put a dollar in the thumb hole), they may "help" you make the spare. The bar food is pretty good too. The biggest problem is that it is difficult to park in this area.

It all started with my first ever FREEZE with tapioca balls-I got the strawberry freeze. It has little balls of tapioca on the bottom. They give you a big straw, and you suck up the Strawberry Freeze along with the tapioca balls which have the texture of gummy bears. Very fun. The food is excellent as well. They have pictures in the extensive menu, so you can choose what you get just from the pics. About $10/plate, but everyone will probably leave with leftovers-I left with over half.

The service was very slow at this riverside Italian restaurant. The bread was bland, and the dish I had was simply pasta and overpowering spiciness!! My friend's dish was boring as well. I would definitely not go back here, but if you want to try it, they do have outdoor seating, right on the river, so the location is great.
