There's a beautiful lawn and garden space around it and they offer outdoor concerts occasionally.
You can take a tour and learn about history.
There's a small gift store, too.

The Children's Museum of NY is conveniently located on the West Side. They change the program frequently so you can attend often and not see the same exhibit twice.
The exhibits are hand's on and interactive.
Best of all, there are classes set up you can take advantage of while you are there, like drop in art classes for the family.

There are daycamps for every age beginning with age 6. The kids are picked up by bus at local meeting stops and bussed to Rockland County.
There are plenty of activities and lot's of swimming.
Best of all, there are overnight options for 1 or 2 weeks, so your camper can 'test drive' readiness to attend overnight camp.

When you don't know what to do with your kids on a rainy or snowy NY day, this is the place.
To be admitted, you pay a suggested donation. It can actually be any amount.
The Museum is huge, there are ample seating areas and a great cafe and plenty of accessable restroom.
Best of all, the kids can run it out if they need to without disturbing people. Plenty of corriders, nooks and crannys to explore.
Plus, you learn something new every time you go.
