The Seastar Restaurant is a wonderful dining experience. The food is beautifully served and tastes as good as it looks. Although I believe they are known best for their fish and other seafood specialties, their steak is outstanding as well.
The dining area is quite large with several tables, so it is not a cozy place with a view, but it is well staffed and runs very smoothly. You can still have a nice conversation with your tablemates without having to speak loudly.
Make sure you get the Maytag Blue Cheese with Shrimp and Pear salad. It is out of this world!
They also have a raw bar which is more upbeat and noisy, but I haven't been to it.
Definitely make reservations, as it does get busy. A great place for a date, anniversary dinner, or a night out with friends or company. I would leave the kids at home though.

Sandy Scott's services were referred to me as "the best massage ever!" And indeed she lived up to the hype.
I've had relaxing massages given by Sandy, who goes from head to toe. The atmosphere of her office is so calming. She also has performed therapeutic massages for sore muscles which have done wonders.
Acupressure, Reiki, Sports & Pregnancy Massage are also listed as part of her specialties.

Dr. Bryan Roos has 2 offices- one in Redmond and one in Bellevue. Both are the model of efficiency. Their staff from receptionist to hygienists to Dr. Roos himself take 10 extra steps to help you and make your visit easier.
They provide "good patient" incentives for their patients such as ticket give aways and raffles. The office continually runs on time. Their billing staff is on top of things and does everything to make sure you understand your coverage and financial responsibilities.
Dr. Roos has great patient care and really seems to connect with his patients. He explains the procedure and makes sure that the parent and patient both understand.
Definitely an A+ in our book.

Precious Memories has taken on new life with the change in ownership. It is tarred by its past reputation of poor service with old supplies. The new owners have spruced the place up and you can really tell they care about the art of preserving your memories.
It is located in a strip mall on the main street in Woodinville, but its not very busy. The shelves are filled with paper and embellishments. They do have a large selection of stickers. The owner is very open to new ideas and product requests.
A diecut machine is available for use for a small charge. The staff is very helpful and doesn't seem to mind helping you find just the right paper or offering advice for your layout. This store would be perfect for the new scrapper.
The crop area is fantastic- plenty of room. Check out their monthly schedule for classes and crops.

Lasting Memories is the one store you must visit when coming to Seattle. It is about 20 minutes north of Seattle itself, in Lynnwood. It is right off the freeway, across from Alderwood Mall, so it is very easy to find.
Lasting Memories carries not only the latest and greatest, but a lot of it!! Their store is divided up into theme such as baby, wedding, cowboys etc. So it really is easy to find coordinating papers and embellishments for a particular set of photos you are working with. They also have an enormous area of patterned paper by color. They stock Bazzill cardstock. A huge diecut area is available for use for a small fee or free with purchase of paper there.
Check out their monthly schedule for classes and crops. Their website has coupons and internet specials listed each Tuesday.
The staff is the only drawback to this store. Although there are a couple of great employees, most are not overly helpful or friendly.

St. Edward State Park has to be one of the most beautiful parks along Lake Washington. It is located at the north end, near Kenmore. Watch carefully for the signs, or you will drive right past it.
It is a day park only, there are no camp sites available. You must pay $5 parking (be sure to pay it, they will leave a ticket if not). for each visit unless you have a state parks parking permit. They open at 8a.m. until dusk each day.
The park has several picnic tables scattered throughout the area. There are several large areas to fly kits, play Frisbee or ball without worrying about running into another group. The area also has several paths for walking/hiking that aren't too rough.
You can access the waterfront through trails, but not cars.
An on site indoor swimming pool is also available, although the public swim times vary.
Best of all is the huge playground for kids- it has a tot area for the little ones, plus plenty of rock walls, climbing structures, slides and areas to play for the older kids. It is enclosed in somewhat, so you don't have to worry about the little ones wandering off.

The Academic Edge is one of several tutoring/academic help centers that seem to be popping up everywhere. We were referred to it through our sons teacher and have been extremely pleased.
They offer tutoring from reading, comprehension, spelling to mathematics of all levels. They also offer writing classes to learn how to conquer essay questions and preparation courses for state tests such as the WASL. They are staffed by teaching professionals who really seem to enjoy the different challenges each child has.
They offer 1 hour sessions each week. I have found them to be extremely accommodating for changes that need to be made for soccer practices and such. They are also open on Saturday.

Mail Max is a great place to use if you need to ship something by either USPS (United States Postal Service), Fed Ex, or UPS. They have supplies and packaging materials available for purchase, such as boxes, foam peanuts, padded envelopes and such, or you can bring it in ready to go.
The owner is very helpful and knowledgeable about the different services. They also have postal mailboxes for you to rent. Two black & white copiers are available (although it seems one is usually out of order.)
On the downside, the surcharge seems to be a little high, but I guess they have to make their profit somehow. And the service is a little slow, they are in no rush, but do make sure they get it right. I find it a great spot to mail the odd and end large box, but find myself in line at the post office for routine mail needs.

Dr. Debra Cederbaum was referred to us by a friend, and I have since referred her to several people. Our entire family seeks her care as a dentist. We use her office on the Eastside in Redmond, but she also has an office in Seattle.
As someone who avoids the dentist at all cost, I have found her to be wonderfully caring and competent. She explains each step of the procedure along the way during her dental work. I have found her to be extremely responsive and helpful in a dental emergency.
Her office runs on time almost each time we have been there. The dental hygienists are gentle. The billing and front office run like a well-oiled machine, yet they are very friendly and professional.

Jalisco's has become our top spot for a Mexican dinner. Coming from southern California, we are a little picky about our Mexican food. We were shocked to learn that flavored hamburger meat was the staple at most Mexican restaurants here in Washington. We were becoming desperate for a good fix when we discovered Jalisco's in downtown Kirkland.
Although somewhat small, we've never had a problem getting a table before 6p.m. They do get busy between 6-7 even on weeknights. Children and families are welcome. The service is great- very accommodating to substitutions and special requests. The salsa is outstanding, as is the margaritas.
We found their portions to be somewhat smaller than most Mexican restaurants, but the quality of the entrée and side items definitely leave you feeling full. We did find it odd that they put peas into most of their burritos and entrées, but the carne asada and chickens flavor far outweighed any taste of peas.
