The Right Card is such a fun place to shop!
The card selection is unique, and many of them are the type to make you laugh out loud (and walking up and down the aisles, you *do* hear a lot of laughter!) This is a great stationery store, carrying not only the standard cards and paper, but also high-end stationery you can order (ie, Cranes), wrapping paper (you can also buy by the sheet), printed cocktail napkins, t-shirts, and all sorts of chachkis, many of them very unique and very funny. The jelly belly counter will also delight the little ones, which are welcome (but should be old enough to resist touching many of the displays). Christmas brings a large selection of unique Christmas cards, both singles, and boxed sets. This is a great place to find that perfect card -- or just to stop in and browse if you need a laugh or at least a smile.

Every town should have its own version of The Cupboard! This great store carries kitchen hard goods such as pots and pans, baking supplies, gadgets, dishes, silverware, a huge selection of glasses, fine knives, a large selection of coffee beans/makers/mugs, several fixtures of teas and their accouterments, candles, imported foodstuff, cookbooks, novelty candy, and a few cold cases of truffles, chocolates, and other confections.
During the holiday season, this selection is augmented by Christmas ornaments (many imported from Germany) and other gift selections. Upstairs houses a several aisles of cookbooks, baskets, rugs, and other accessories. Add to this the line-up of cooking classes held in the evenings, and you pretty much have a full-stop kitchen store of your dreams. It is very hard to walk in and not find something you just *have* to have!
Prices are a tad on the high side, but it is usually worth the extra cost in order to support a local icon like the Cupboard!

OK, let me just start off by saying up front that Positanos, in my family's opinion, makes the best pizza in Fort Collins, bar none!
Their hand tossed crust is thin, flavorful, and cooked perfectly (not too much so that it is crispy and dry). The toppings are also prepared fresh (try the meatball), and generous without overwhelming the flavor of the sauce - not too sweet, not too tart.
We have served it to not only to local friends, but to out of town guests and family, and everyone that has tasted it thinks it is the best they have had. Even after to a trip to New York, after much taste-testing in a quest for the ultimate pizza, we had to agree that we could find one that beat Positano's ... and that was quite a compliment!
The down side is their location ... not the ideal place, and parking can be a bit difficult. They recently started delivering in an effort to be competitive, but often it is quicker if you just pick up the pizza yourself.

You know how you hear about little places tucked into a shopping mall that are absolute gems? This is one!
China Wok is in a strip mall adjacent to the Safeway on Harmony road. The place is predominantly designed for carry-out service, though there are a few tables and chairs arranged for eating 'in'. The food is outstanding! Honestly, we have been ordering from this place for a few years (basically since they opened), and have never had a dish that wasn't good.
At first we were worried, as we were afraid that word of mouth hadn't spread, and that we would lose our favorite take-out place due to low traffic. AND THEN, we showed up around dinner time!! The place has a constant stream of people picking up orders ... not to worry, the word is out!
Portions are very generous, food is tasty, well seasoned and fresh, and the lunch specials are incredible! I cannot say enough about this place ... if they only delivered, they would be perfect!!

EPIC (the Edora Pool Ice Center) is located at 1801 Riverside Ave., and is a perfect place to spend a good part of your summer. Besides the swimming area (offering a very large shallow pool, a very large 'warm pool/jacuzzi', lanes for lap swimming, a diving area, and a 4.5 foot section for swimming as well), it offers a nice ice-skating rink, both of which are available for free swimming/skating to the general public. The inside also features a full-service snack bar, which opens at 10am.
Outside, besides the usual park amenities (sports fields, tennis, walking paths, playground area), the center offers a BMX track, an ultimate frisbee course, horseshoe pits, and more. One can easily take an entire family here day after day, and always find something active to do. Prices are very reasonable, call ahead for free swim and skate hours.

Being in Colorado does NOT mean that you have to forgo good ethnic food. Enter Bisetti's, a family-run Italian food restaurant that has been serving the community in the same location for years and years. The food is very good, offering all the traditional fare (they make their noodles from scratch) along with a bevy of non-pasta choices. If you catch their lunch specials, you will be treated to imaginative creations served with a salad for a very reasonable price. Perennial favorites include Eggplant parmigiana and their lasagna, and you will NOT leave hungry. Service is above average for Fort Collins, and the newly re-decorated rooms really make you feel as if you are in some quiet, quaint Tuscan town. Bisetti's is a truly positive dining experience, and is one the the places I would put on a short list for bringing guests in from out of town.

Every town has at least one place where you go when you are trying to show someone the very best of what your town has to offer in the area of food. Jay's is that place of choice in Fort Collins. Whether you are there for a romantic dinner, impressing out of town guests, or just in the mood for a classy night out, this is the place to go in Fort Collins.
Though the menu doesn't change with the seasons (as it once did), you are sure to find a favorite (or three). The Continental-styled food is well done, presented beautifully, and consistent. (And, on the days that Jay has to pitch in with the kitchen, the food quality reaches unbelievable heights!) Deserts are also well done, though not the restaurant's strong spot.
I have friends who live in Europe that look forward to dinner at Jays ... that says it all right there!

I have to admit, I resisted going here for some time, and I can't really tell you why. I just didn't, and instead, I tried just about every other car wash in town. Finally, my husband gave me a coupon book from Richies, so I took the plunge.
Frankly, there is no other car wash in town that compares with this business. (Note, I always buy 'the works' lever washes). That being said, what more can I say but that when it comes out through the wash, my car is perfectly clean. The rotating spray jets and the cloth brushes manage to hit every inch of my car, and I escape without so much as a single water spot.
The lanes are well-arranged, and I appreciate that everyone has plenty of room to maneuver through the car wash and vacuum areas. A single drawback may be found when there is a line formed, as I have noticed that the guys tend to give your car a much quicker (and less thorough) pre-wash rinse ... but to be honest, I think that it leaves a *perception* of rushed service, and not an actually less clean car.
I admit it, I am now a Richie's snob and proud of it!

Bread bakers have come and gone in this town, but Great Harvest is more than a bakery -- it's an institution!
Great fresh bread. Creative and imaginative breads and quickbreads so popular that they are produced on a weekly schedule (and if you wait too long in the day, you are surely out of luck!!) are ready for sampling with a nice slab of butter. It is amazing how many people come in to get a fresh piece of bread out of the oven - sometimes with no intention of buying bread that day - and yet they are served with a smile each and every time! I have seen *packs* of kids come in for bread, and never a cross look or snide comment is served along with (what is clearly) their after-school snack. You just can't find places like this, these days. It takes us back to time when the neighborhood bakery was more than a retail store. I believe that is why, aside from the delicious products they produce, Great Harvest has been and will be around for quite a while.

Bath is my landscaper of choice!
Their landscaping crew is great, working with you until your vision and their vision is a perfect match. They will keep at it until you are completely satisfied, and you can see that their name and reputation means a lot to them in this community. The landscape crews that have come out are polite and respectful, and clean up after themselves perfectly. People are out at all phases to make sure that things are not only going to plan, but that the plan is still unfolding the way you envisioned it.
Once the job is done, Bath still keeps you in mind as a customer, with periodic 'drive by's' to ensure that everything is healthy and doing well.
You know, every nursery in Fort Collins seems to fill a special niche, and service and attention to detail is the hallmark of Bath. They also have an awesome selection of shrubs, trees and roses, and everything that has been planted by them has either thrived or been cheerfully replanted by another plant. If you want a perfect blend of skill and high priority on customer service, then I highly recommend Bath!
