Monica's is a fun little restaurant in Deep Ellum. It's close enough to downtown that you could easily drive over there for lunch if you work in the downtown area, but it makes for a nice place for dinner anytime. My wife and I went there for dinner one evening before attending a show at the music hall at Fair Park and it made for a nice date. The food is southwestern /mexican. I haven't tried anything on the menu that i haven't enjoyed. Reminds me somewhat of Blue Mesa, which is also a decent restaurant. Parking may cost you a few dollars (like everywhere in Deep Ellum). You can try to find a free parking spot, choose from the abundance of metered parking in the area, or use the restaurant's valet parking.

The Pepper Garden mexican restaurant provides a nice alternative to the usual downtown fare, especially if you work on the south/east side of the downtown Dallas area. The prices are very reasonable and the food is good. The offer all the chips and salsa you can eat (serve yourself) and a number of good options on the menu. This place is not likely to overly impress, but it is not likely to disappoint either. Just another nice option for lunch for those who work downtown.

We've been to this dry cleaners multiple times and their work has been very good. The people who work at this place are extremely nice and friendly, which is always a plus. Their prices are a bit higher than some, but we've had no negative experiences thus far. The location is very convenient for us as well -- they are right off 190 at the intersection of Jupiter and the 190 service road. If quality is more important to you than price, then you might want to give this place a shot and see what you think. If price is your primary criteria, you would probably want to go elsewhere.

I had my vehicle broken into not too long ago and needed to have some repair work done as a result. My insurance company referred me to Protech and I was very pleased with their service and quality of work. The employees were friendly and did a good job of keeping me informed as to the status of my repairs, returning my phone calls, etc. I believe their specialty is in the area of in-car tv/dvds, stereos, security systems, and so forth, but all the work they were hired to do was reasonably well done.

This public park in Richardson is one of the best that I am aware of in the area. It has two different playgrounds for kids, a duck pond, a path for walkers and runners, as well as baseball fields and plenty of wide open space. Great for kids or walking your dog, excercising or whatever suits you. There are restroom facilities available, though I've never checked them for cleanliness. Parking is available on the south side of the park, otherwise you can park on the side of the road on the streets that border the park.

I have started going to Car Spa on a somewhat regular basis because they provide me with a good, quick car wash at a cheap price. Car Spa uses a big drive-thru wash (like those seen at many gas stations) in conjunction with -real people- who do some of the cleaning and drying of your vehicle. By doing so, they can clean a lot of cars fairly quickly and maintain a higher quality car wash than a normal drive-thru wash. The cheapest wash starts at $6.99. However, Car Spa also has a gas station where you can fuel up. If you choose to do this you can get a discount of $2-3 off your car wash (just show your fuel receipt to the car wash attendant). So I can go fill up my car with gas (their gas prices are competitive) and then get a car wash for $5. Not bad!

Avanti is one of my favorite downtown restaurants. Unfortunately the price is a little higher than will allow me to eat there often, but it's a nice place nonetheless. I believe Avanti has three Dallas area locations, of which I've visited two. Both of the locations I've eaten at have been very nice and the food is awesome. The downtown location at Fountain Place (if you're not familiar with the area) has fountains built into the pavement outside in a pretty courtyard area. I would highly recommend Avanti for a special meal out with a significant other, or perhaps for a business lunch or that sort of thing. They describe the menu for the downtown location as "European" or something, but it's basically a nice eclectic menu with plenty of options.

I went to Theater Three awhile back to see their hit "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change!" The show was hilarious and we had a great time. Very nice venue. This is a wonderful way to spend an evening. My wife and I hope to return sometime in the near future. This part of town also has some nice restaurants if you are interested in dinner before or after the show.

My wife and I went to the Dallas Theater Center for a date night a few months back and really had a great time. The dress code is pretty casual. This place is not in the best part of downtown, but the performance was great and we had a really good time. They are supposed to be moving to a new facility in a few years (2009 is what it said on their website), so that will be a nice improvement. The only minor complaint that I have is that the chairs were a bit uncomfortable.
