Noodle Nexus opened up in the tunnels downtown awhile back when I used to work in that area. It became somewhat popular with my co-workers so I gave it a shot. The atmosphere is nice and modern. I'm not sure how to best describe the food -- lots of noodle dishes, and some rice dishes that strike me to be close to Chinese food. I think they are trying to be a Thai restaurant, but that's not immediately obvious by the menu -- there are lots of options. Price is reasonable as compared to other downtown lunch establishments.

We went to the Blue Goose with some friends awhile back and I honestly was not terribly impressed. It reminded me of a dozen other mexican restaurants I've been to, and the food was pretty greasy (yeah, I know, what else would I expect from a Mexican restaurant). The prices were a few dollars higher than I thought was reasonable for fairly average tasting food.

My wife and I went to Cafe Express for the first time over a year ago and absolutely love it. The food is wonderful but the atmosphere is casual. Your order your food at a counter and pick it up when it is ready (seat yourself, no waitstaff). It almost feels like a fast food restaurant, except the food is so much better than any fast food restaurant I've been to. Lots of healthy menu items and nice ambiance. We've got two little kids and we've taken them with us without problem. Nice place to grab a meal and you can leave without feeling like you've just shortened your life expectancy. :)

I recently spent some time in Virginia with some family who live there and was introduced to Vocelli's pizza. I was really impressed! I've eaten more than my fair share of pizza in my day, and I can honestly say that this place is a cut above. If you're tired of Papa John's and PIzza Hut (and happen to live in the Herndon area) give Vocelli's a try!

I've been to August Moon twice and it has been quite enjoyable both times. The food is a little more expensive than I prefer to pay normally, but I think they have a discount which we used (buy one get one free) through the Entertainment Book. If you can get that deal, it's well worth it! The portions were plentiful as I recall - enough to take some home with you afterwards.

Campisi's is a decent Dallas-based pizza chain. Their pizza is a little different than most -- they slice it into squares / rectangles rather than the "traditional" pizza slice. I'm not sure if they make more than one type of crust -- I've always had the thin crust, but it's quite good. Nice and crispy (which I suppose is only nice if you like that sort of thing). If you live in the Dallas area, I recommend you at least give it a shot and see what you think. They've got several locations, so they're likely not too far away from you, where you might be.

We've been going to Spring Creek BBQ for several years now and have really enjoyed their food. They have several different BBQ meat options (pork, sliced or chopped beef, chicken, etc) as well as some decent side dishes (the baked potatoes are a favorite of mine). If you go on Sunday, they have dishes of Blue Bell vanilla ice cream FREE for dessert. Their dinner rolls are pretty awesome too. Usually somebody will come by and offer you additional rolls while you're eating, which I've always appreciated. This is also a nice restaurant for a big crowd, especially if you don't want to have to worry about who's going to pay for the ticket -- it's every man for himself (everyone pays for their meal as they order it, kind of like Luby's cafeteria or La Madeleine). And there are plenty of large tables for big parties.

My wife and I went to see Four Day Weekend one evening earlier this year and really enjoyed the show. We've always been fans of television shows like "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" and really thought these guys did some great improv. Their theater is in downtown Fort Worth was very nice. They really try to keep their improv relatively clean - there may be some suggestive humor, but they try to keep the content more family-oriented.

We've been taking our kids to Amy Miller for quite awhile now and she has been really great. She does not specialize in pediatrics, but we've taken both our 1 and 2 year old kids to see her and have been very happy with her. Yesterday we had an emergency with our youngest, and after making room for us in the middle of the day (so we didn't have to take her to the emergency room) she also called us at home in the evening to check and see how we were doing. We really appreciated the follow-up and concern she shows for us and our kids!

Having once been a student at Texas A&M, I had the opportunity to become well acquainted with the various local dining options in College Station. Layne's quickly became a favorite of mine. It's a small place off Texas Ave. and the menu is not very big, but what they have to offer is really good. I'm a fan of their chicken sandwich. It comes with some kind of special sauce that is awesome (special sauce usually scares me, but this stuff is worth taking a risk on!). Give this a shot if you live in the Bryan/College Station area, or happen to be there for some reason. It's a quick lunch - nothing fancy, but the price is right and the food is great! (They have a drive-thru for those of you who don't have time to walk in)
