Last Saturday I was leisurely strolling through Pikes Market when I came across Uli's Famous Sausage.Low and behold Uli's beautiful display of 15 -20 types of sausage caught my eye and the attention of my stomach.
I am quite the fan of the cured meats and sausages so I thought I would take the time out of my busy schedule to investigate.
With the assistance of the shop keep, I decided upon purchasing 3 English Bangers and 3 thuringer Rostbratwurst. After you purchase your tasty links, do yourself a favor and go across the street and buy a baguette. One baguette should fit about 4 links.
All were cooked on the grill over medium heat since Uli's sausages are quite lean (all natural and preservative free also). Most sausages are in the $7 /lb range.
Delicious and Nutritious.
By the way, they ship the sausages nation wide 2nd day UPS so if you happen to move away from the Seattle area you can always get your Uli's fix.

Velo Bike shop located one block off of Broadway in Capital Hill is a full service bike shop.
They have a full selection of mountain, hybrid and road bikes. Prices are reasonable and the service and technicians really know what they are talking about.
Velo Bike shop also carries a selection of bike accessories including, bags, helmets, tools, and riding gear.
They have a small selection of used bikes to compliment the selection of new bikes.
I have not purchased anything from this store as of yet but will consider this store on the top of my list for bike purchases.

So when I first moved to Capitol Hill I needed a few sets of keys made for my apartment. Luckily I happened across Broadway Locksmith.
Broadway Locksmith has some extremely fast and courteous service. I was able to have 4 sets of keys (set consisting of 3 keys) completed in less than 5 minutes.
The locksmith did not even have to search for the key blanks. Although I think the keys were fairly standard he knew right where to pull them off the rack and began cutting immediately.
Broadway locksmith caters to individuals as well as commercial businesses with services ranging from auto, home and luggage locks to safes and master key making.
They also fit keys into existing locks so if you loose keys you do not have to replace locks.
Broadway Locksmith is located one block up E John from Broadway in Capitol Hill.
Highly recommended.

KT imports is similar to your typical run of the mill import shop that you would find in any strip mall. This store carries what seems to be eastern flavored items ranging from incense to mock Chinese paintings and oil warmers.
What I can say is that items that KT imports has for sale are really inexpensive. You get what you pay for, but if you are looking for some inexpensive chintzy knick knacks to decorate a theme party this is your spot.

I had the opportunity to visit the Seattle Arts Museum recently to see the Noguchi exhibit. Noguchi's works are rather uneventful but the person that installed the exhibit did a wonderful job of creating an experience for the visitor to enjoy.
I was quite surprised to see that even a small art museum had a decent collection of art encompassing various styles and mediums.
The museum is 4 floors with artwork on 3 floors.
Entry fee is $10 for visiting exhibits. Remember that the first Thursday of every month is free admission to all floors.
The SAM is expanding and should be completed by spring 2007. Looking forward to the expansion.

City Peoples Garden Store boasts a wide variety of items for your home gardening needs. The small store located on E Madison has a surprising selection of indoor plants, herbs, grasses, and even trees. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly.
The small nursery around back has a variety of perennials and annuals, small junipers, and vines. Along the back is a section for shade loving plants and ferns.
A small selection of pots and soils are available as well as gardening tools.

I recently had the pleasure to visit Jazz Alley to hear Stanly Jordan play a solo set.
Jazz Alley is probably one of the best all jazz venues I have ever set foot into. The entry fee is very affordable (most shows range $20-$30). I have seen the same artists play at Blues Alley in Washington DC for 3 times the price.
Reservations are recommended in advance although walk ins are welcome due to availability. Reservations can be made by phone, on line, or tickets can be purchased via Ticketmaster (although not recommended due to outrageous ticketmaster fees).
The sound in this place is fantastic and there seems to be not a bad seat in the house.
The food is ok and overpriced but to be expected for this type of venue. The drinks are reasonably priced and a limited scotch list is available.
If you are a looking for a place to see a great jazz show, Jazz Alley truly is the premier venue for jazz in the Pacific Northwest.
See you all at the Ahmad Jamal show.

I came across India Express in the Capital Hill coupon book one rainy night when I was having a craving for Indian and didn't want to go outside.
India Express conveniently has their menu online at www.indiaexp.com. Ordering was simple by phone and delivery was prompt.
The meat samosas are quite dry. I recommend getting the Lamb Tikka Masala. The lamb is tender and the sauce is your typical masala sauce with tomatoes and curry.
For the vegetarians, I do not recommend getting the Chana Masala. The Chana Massala lacks any real spice or flavor.
At best India Express is a mediocre delivery Indian restaurant that provides a filling meal at an average price.

If you ever hang out in the Pike-Pine corridor you are sure to have run into Hot Mama's Pizza.
Hot Mama's is a mainstay of the drunken public that frequents the bars on Pike-Pine street.
A hole in the wall pizzaria with limited seating, Hot Mama's has some suprisingly delicious pizza (coming from a pizza conisour from Jersey). Hot Mama's is not quite a New York slice but is close enough to satisfy that pizza craving. I reccomend a slice of Mama's Choice (fresh tomatoes, mushrooms, roasted garlic, and green stuff).
If you are in the neighborhood drop in for a slice. Hot Mama's also delivers for free but the drivers tend to go home early.

I was incredibly excited to receive a delivery menu for Genghis Khan Restaurant. Having lived in Capital Hill for 4 months I have yet to find a Chinese food restaurant that delivers. Seattle seems to be chock full of Thai restaurants but very few Chinese.
The menu consisted of typical delivery Chinese items along with a good variety of seafood dishes. The Walnut Prawns seemed interesting as well as the Mongolian scallops.
I ordered my food and anxiously awaited the delivery. Delivery was fairly quick. Once the food arrived, I feverishly unpacked each item. Much to my disappointment the food was terrible. The vegetables were limited to undercooked cabbage and what seemed like old carrots. The walnuts in the walnut prawns were tasty but the prawns were overcooked and mushy.
To keep this short, NEVER order from this place. I am sticking to Thai from now on.
