Stitches is an independently owned fabric store located on E Pike St. (west of Broadway).
This store features a lot of really cool fabric and patterns which you will not find in your typical large chain store. There is a very nice selection of silks and blends that are very reasonably priced. Each bolt of fabric is hand selected.
In addition to fabric, Stitches also sells some yarn and other sewing supplies (buttons etc...). Prices are good .

Pacific Supply Co is the only hardware store in Capitol Hill. I went in there the other day to find a locking door knob for my apartment door (which they did have).
Keep in mind that this store is an apartment and building supply store so the selection of goods is not that great. Its perfect if you break something in your apartment and need a replacement (great for the glass globes surrounding your outdoor lights) but you will not find lumber or a wide range of tile.
Basically if you can find it in your apartment you can find it at Pacific Supply Co.

Platinum Records features electronic music including house, breaks, drum and bass, and techno. This is your typical DJ record store with current releases and white labels located on the wall and everything else in shelves.
I did see some crates on the floor that feature new hip hop and experimental.
The downtempo selection is pretty small but they seem to cater towards more of the house dj.

Edie's shoes reminds me of the boutique shoe stores in Denmark. The people at Edie's puts together a collection of fun and unique shoes. Edie's features brands such as Camper, La Costa, Puma, and Asics (I would like to see them carry some ECCO). They don't keep much in stock and they seldom reorder the same shoes so if you like something buy it.
Right now they are having a 30% off sale.

Wall of Sound is a new and used CD and record store located on E Pine st one block east of RT 5. This store specializes in experimental, electronic, and world music. Very interesting selection of music can be found here and you can listen to everything before you buy it. There is a small collection of used records also.
What makes this store interesting is that it seems to share the space with Comfounded Books which sells graphic novels. Very fun store to peruse through. Check out the experimental music selection.

The shop itself is just a desk and predominantly work space. Not much of a showroom. Fiori Flora is not a florist, rather they design floral arrangements for private and corporate events and parties. The on line gallery and catalog display some very creative arrangements.
You can check them out at www.fiorifloradesign.com.

Jive Time Records located on E Pine St in Capitol Hill specializes in Used rock LPs. This small store with two levels has some really great stuff. Used LPs are range from $4.99-$7.99. Upstairs are classical and a fairly large soundtrack section as well as sound effects records.
There are quite a few $0.99 cent bins outside the store as well as inside. I spent some time searching through them but most of it is bunk artists I have never heard of or Journey LPs.
Worth checking out though since a lot of records stores don't seem to have a decent selection of classic rock.

Seattle Trading Post is located between Pike and Pine on 12th Ave in Captial Hill.
Walking into this store is like walking into grandma's attic. Things are haphazardly organized with little rhyme or reason to why they are positioned next to each other (Unless adjacent dishes and TVs are supposed to make you think of TV dinners).
It really does feel like an indoor garage sale with fluorescent round stickers on everything. I spoke to the owner and he is expanding the store soon (Thank GOD! You feel pretty clausterphobic in there).
But I did find a wood carved walking stick for $5 so its worth sticking your head in and taking a peak around.
