Judie's is the place to go for popovers - buttery, flaky morsels of baked goodness. Judie's portions are huge, considering that the popovers are 3/4 the size of my head! I would normally get a popover with apple butter, seafood bisque, and a salad with low-fat lemon poppyseed dressing. The meal was always filling (most of the time I wouldn't be able to finish it). If you're in a rush though, I wouldn't recommend Judie's because the lines are long and the service is so-so.

If your sweet tooth is calling and you're not in the mood for an ice cream cone or a generic cookie, head to Finale. Finale is THE place to go for up-scale dessert. I always love the creme brulee and the fruit desserts. Of course, you can't go wrong with anything chocolate at Finale either. Finale also has a good list of complimentary drinks, but they are also a bit on the expensive side. This is a perfect place for a date or to go with your girlfriends. Finally, I think the Cambridge location has better desserts than the Boston location.

Hungry Ghost Bread opened recently in Northampton. Hungry Ghost Bread is based somewhat on Buddhist theory. The store sells all the fresh bread you could ever want - bread is baked fresh every day. The store is quaint - it has school children's pictures on the walls. One of the owners is even a Pioneer Valley college graduate and hires undergrads from the Pioneer Valley. The owners and staff are very friendly with their customers and appreciate any input you have regarding their store and products. You can't go wrong with anything they sell!

State Street Fruit Store is relatively large for a local food market. State Street sells the normal food-stuff that the average food market sells, however, State Street also sells produce and baked items from local farmers and bakers. The prices of the normal food-stuff are more expensive than what you will find at the larger supermarkets. Go to State Street for the local goods. State Street is convenient for college students in Northampton because it is closer than the larger supermarkets.

Because it used to be a theatre, the seats and setting of the movie theatre are "old-school" and make you reminiscent of the old days. The Academy of Music plays host to local shows, such as the Nutcracker in the winter. This is a great place to take a date!

Pleasant Street Video truly has an excellent collection of movies - on DVD and on video. Pleasant Street Video has anime, foreign, romantic comedy, classics, hit movies, etc. I have found movies here that I couldn't find in Blockbusters, Walmart, Target, Barnes and Nobles, and Best Buy stores. The membership is a good price and you get a free movie on your birthday! Their hours are convenient as well.

Raven Used Books does it's best to provide good quality books at a reasonable price to its customers...and for the most part, it does! You can find used textbooks, bestsellers, novels, non-fiction, fiction, etc. here. There is an abundance of books here, demonstrated by the overflowing bookshelves. The staff are helpful if needed, but they usually mind their own business, so you don't have any overeager staff members hanging over your shoulders as you browse through books.
