This is one of your choices. It's very crowded on the weekends (just like every other grocery store on the street). They have 2-3 cash registers running at all times, so if time's a consideration, you may want to see which store is less crowded.
For quality, I've found that if I don't like what I see (fresh produce, refrigerated items), I can go next door, or next to that, and get the quality I want.
The staff is good here about helping you find what you need. Especially, since it is not very well organized. You sometimes don't find things where you would expect.

Payal is a great salon. They take unisex clients, and are a full-service beauty salon. It's well staffed, so there's never a wait (except probably on weekends). The place is large and well-lit. They take every hygeine and safety precaution.
Payal does great haircuts and maintenence. But that's the least of it.
They do face care/grooming. Bleaching, facials, etc. They THREAD. If you've never had your eyebrows threaded, you have never had perfect eyebrows. I get compliminted on my brows all the time. Threading is clean and precise, not painful at all (it tugs during the process, but there is no after-pain). There is no funny reaction to chemicals or the harsh schock of waxing. I get a little apprehensive when it comes to waxing by brows .. what if the lady hand moves wrong and I end up w/ funny looking eyebrows?? The staff at Payal are expert threaders.
They also do formal make-up and hair for special occasions. They offer henna service (I had a henna party once as a bridal shower and it was a huge hit!)
They have private rooms for waxing and facial services. Very discreet and professional.

Or in your food!
If you have a hard time in the US because you do not eat eggs or avoid desserts with eggs, this is the place for you.
Hot Breads is the Amrican incarnation of a Jain Bakery from India. They carry all your basic cakes and pastries with no eggs. They also carry of a lot of non-Indian desserts with the ingredients modified to exclude eggs. And the foods taste and look the same!
They take a lot of cake orders for egg-less wedding and birthday cakes and the quality is excellent. We tried the fresh-fruit cake [with pineapple, kiwi, and strawberries] at a summer event and loved it. Our guests were so touched by our thoughtfulness in providing an egg-less cake.
They also carry baked snacks with no eggs. There is seating and plenty of parking.

Great staff, always ready to show you a wonderful collection of 22 and 24 carat yellow gold, white gold, diamond, precious stone, and pearl jewelry.
Their colletction seems to have the greatest range: from really old fashioned stuff your grandmother would probably buy, to pieces that a young, hip, 25 year old girl would like.
My personal favorite remains Nikita's

Nikita's is my family's choice for 22 carat gold, diamond, and peal jewelry.
Nikita's has a great selection of gold, white gold, diamond, and pearl jewelry. From really opulent jewelry you'd wear to a traditional wedding to small sets that you can keep for everyday wear.
The owner is the buyer and she has a wonderful eye and elegant taste (When you go, check out what pieces she's wearing. They are her own collection, not for show/sale). She and I see completely eye-to-eye on jewelry. It's my husband's downfall. I like my Indian jewelry to be unique, and with Nikita's I know I will not see my set on anyone else. She only carries one-of-a kind pieces.
They carry a lot of antique polish sets, if you are one of those, like me, who doesn't like that shiny yellow finish. The prices are reasonable and well worth the products in terms of quality and workmanship.

They are a full service salon. It is kept very clean and hygienic. I was not hesitant or uncomfortable at any time. They do shampoos and blow-drys, roller sets, relaxers, and a myriad of other hair services.
The prices are reasonable, and certainly cheaper than your average mall salon. My shampoo, blow-dry, and trim was only $30. My hair is difficult to manage and the stylist did a wonderful job.
They also have a weekend mens special for a shampoo and hair cut. They take walk-ins, but an appointment is recommended.

Patel Video is a do-all.
They are New Jersey's largest outlet for Indian show, concert, play, etc tickets.
They carry a wide range of entertainment choices from the mid-1900's to Friday's released movie. They rent and sell all Indian [not just Hindi] movies in VHS and DVD formats. They sell all audio soundtracks, compilations, and records.
Patel Video offers video conversions from PAL to NTSC and vice versa. I had my wedding video converted from VCD to DVD and the sound and video quality were impeccable.
The staff is helpful in finding stuff and making honest recommendations. For rentals you do need to be a member (quick process). Even open on Mondays.

Indira International carries a wonderful selection of sarees and salwars. I've never gone shopping there and been disappointed. Actually, my problem is the opposite. I go to browse and end up shopping.
Their saree selection is elegant, reasonably priced and varied like you would not believe. They carry every type of saree, from dressy silk to everyday georgette and inexpensive polyester.
They also carry a wide selection of salwars and Lengha in beautiful colors and designs. They have simple to wedding, and everything in between.
The new line is Kurtis! Oh beautiful Kurtis in real sizes that fit regular people (not just the tiny, slim girls) at bargain prices! I've seen similar Kurtis in American stores for triple the price!.
The quality of all the products is excellent; I've never had a complaint. Everything is designed in India and imported to the US. The buyer keeps up with Mumbai and Delhi trends. Love it!
Parking is an issue on that street, but Indira is located between two parking lots.

Located on Washington st. in Hoboken [good luck finding a parking spot], NJ, this is a wonderful Mexican Place.
The very first thing you'll notice, besides how tiny it is [seats less than thirty], is the arresting Mexican mural that takes up both walls. The walls are some of the most beautiful work I've seen. Vibrant colors, ethnic design, great handiwork.
The food is healthy, cooked well, fresh. Portions are large; I've yet to clean my plate on my own. Prices reasonable.
The wait is worth it (I told you it was small) and you just have to remember to have cash on hand.

One of the largest and busiest grocery stores on Newark Avenue (India Square). On a street with over 10 grocery sores, cutthroat competition, and perishable foods, Patel Bros has managed to survive for decades, growing and doing well.
I think it's because they carry everything and the groceries/veggies/fruits are the freshest. There is a really high turnover of products, so I feel confident that whatever I'm picking up is not old. The operation is run like a small American supermarket (not a fobby Indian place) and the staff is plentiful if you need help. They eve help you find stuff and carry your purchases to the car (usually without prompting).
They carry all the Indian veggies and groceries, but also things I used to have to go to Shoprite for. How convenient. Now I can do all of my shopping in one trip. They also own a couple of locations so I think they do bulk buying, which allows them to sell at low prices.
