Mike's is a decent place if you're not looking to get a huge variety of goods. Their prices are great, especially if you get the specials on the mailers, but they don't have a very large selection. They carry their own brand, which is a lot cheaper and is actually really good quality for a generic brand. Probably a great place to shop if you're a starving student!

Bob's Cycle Center has everything you could possibly need for cycling. The store is definitely geared more towards serious riders, and the prices reflect that. I wouldn't recommend taking your child here to purchase their first bicycle unless you're willing to spend a good deal of money on a quality bike. The staff is super friendly and very knowledgable about all the products that they offer. The store is well organized and easy to navigate. Parking is ample.

River Rat is the longest standing raft rental establishment in this area of the American River. Such long years of service make them fast and reliable at what they do. Raft rental costs vary based on the size of the raft and the number of people, and life jackets are included in the cost. The river is mild, class II rapids at most, and rafting is a perfect activity for families of all ages and sizes. River Rat will shuttle rafters to the drop off location, and then will pick them up at the pull out and back to River Rat to return the rafts and retrieve their vehicles. Great service and friendly staff.

Kovar's is the most reknown karate academy in the Sacramento area. They have expanded over the years and now offer several locations throughout the great Sac area. The owners, Dave and Tim Kovar, are educated in both business and martial arts. Kovars offers a blend of Tae Kwon Do and Kenpo, with other classes focusing on kickboxing, Mui Thay, and Jui Jitsu. The instructors are kind, patient and well trained. They have classes for ages 4 and up. The prices are comparable to other academies, but include all belt testing fees as well.

The store itself is HUGE with all kinds of housewares and clothing. They offer dressing rooms to try on the clothing, which is all very inexpensively priced. They offer weekly specials and special sales days for senior citizens. The store is decently organized, but it takes a bit of sorting through things to find what you're looking for. I believe the staff are all volunteer workers.

The store sells both new and used music, so bring in your old CDs to exchange for credit towards some new ones. They have a large variety of all kinds of music, DVDs, and rock memorabilia. The staff really knows a lot about music, and they always have tons of flyers and posters about upcoming shows around town. You could spend a long time browsing all the aisles here.

They also offer miniature golf, laser tag, and a full arcade with all of your favorite games. The prices are reasonable, the location is safe, the staff is friendly and accessable, and there is ample parking. You could easily spend a full day at this park. Kids of all ages will love SunSplash.

Carmichael Elementary School is old, outdated and rather run down. The campus has had to expand several times and now also includes several portable classroom buildings. The condition of the school itself is not, however, reflected upon the academic curriculum or the quality of the teachers in this school. They are exceptional, and they are willing to put in lots of time to ensure that your child will be successful. Carmichael Elementary School has an extensive English-as-a-Second-Language program, and many students come to the school not knowing how to speak English at all. There is a large population of Ukrainian and Russian children at this school.

Pacific Mail Center is a small family owned mailbox and shipping center in Carmichael. The owner, Teddy, is almost always behind the counter to greet you with a smile and to ask how your day has been. Their mailbox rental prices are comparable to larger chain stores, and they offer shippind via UPS, USPS and Fed Ex. Their prices for shipping are slightly elevated to recoup their costs, but it's worth it not to have to fight the lines at the Post Office. They also sell a small assortment of office supplies, soaps, herbal remedies and gift items.
