Tomahawk Lake has been around for a long time. With a number of water slides all based around a natural lake, Tomahawk Lake is a great place for family fun. Aside from the slides, they also offer paddle boats, bumper boats, and mini golf. There are a few places where you can grab a bite to eat, or you can bring your own food and eat at the picnic tables. Admission is relatively inexpensive compared to other waterparks, and you get to spend the whole day there. Great place for a day with the family.

Dave’s Italian Kitchen is simply one of the best Italian restaurants I have ever been to. The menu is extremely wide, and almost every dish is to die for. The service is great, and the place is always hopping. It’s not unusual to have a wait of at least half an hour on a given night of the week. The only thing bad to say about this place is that many people complain their dishes are drenched in tomato sauce. I actually like that as you can sop it up with the wonderful bread they give you, but it’s a personal preference.

If you ever have the chance to get to Chicago, or wind up as a student at Northwestern University in Evanston, this is the place to go for Chicago-style pizza. Their world-famous stuffed pizza is simply out of this world. A layer of sauce on top, then toppings, cheese, and bread, makes this pizza unbelievable. Their signature pizza is stuffed-spinach, and will please even the most vocal vegetable-hater. However, I can only recommend their stuffed pizza. The thin-crust pizza is only so-so. One must travel to New York for true thin crust pizza.

The people at Montclair Volvo are really looking to sell you a car. Many times when you go into a car dealership, they are not ready to sell you a car on the spot. They want to work you over, and see how much you’d be willing to give them. Many times it takes going to a number of other dealers to get them to lower their price. However, Montclair Volvo is not like that. They present you with a great deal from the get go, and are genuinely looking to sell you a car when you arrive. The salesmen are attentive and treat their customers with respect. They also have an extremely wide selection of Volvos available. Highly recommended.

It’s hard to find anyone who can really cut and style a man’s hair properly. A while back I stopped going to the traditional barbershops, and tried going to salons, or at least ones that looked like they were more apt at cutting men’s hair. Out of all the places I’ve been in the Bergen county area, this is the first place that has truly given me what I asked for in my cut, and the stylist explained how I could achieve the style I wanted to attain. At the places I had been to in the past, many of the people just simply didn’t do what I had asked. That may have been my lack of experience with hair salons, but the stylist here knew what to do. They also have $14 men’s haircut night on Wednesday nights between 5-8pm, which is a pretty good deal for what they offer.

I’ve had a number of repair jobs taken care of at this Midas location. Every one of them was taken care of well, and I’ve never had to go back for a messed up job. The great thing about this shop though, is that they’re completely honest and upfront about what you are going to do to your car. They present you with an estimate of what it’s going to cost, and that’s it – no hidden charges, no “extras” that the repair guy decides to throw in at the last minute. The people here are honest and ethical in their business dealings, which is something that’s hard to say about most auto-body shops. The only problem is that sometimes there’s a long wait to get service, and there’s no appointments, only first come first served. But they’re well worth the wait.

You can eat in, take out, or even have your meals catered. They offer everything from traditional chopped liver to tuna fish to hot dogs and hamburgers, all made fresh on location. They also have a wide selection of frozen items that can be picked up and eaten at home, including their terrific chicken soup.

Everyone has a local pizza shop that he says is the best and can never be matched. Turvino's would be the place for me, and for many in the North Jersey area. Their pizza is unmatched by any other local or chain restaurant. Any topping you can think of, they have it. Aside from having great pizza, they also have a wide array of Italian dishes, everything from baked ziti to lasagna. It’s truly a great local place to eat. Make sure you stop in if you’re passing by – you won’t regret it.
