Pretty Lady is a good place to go for hair and nails. The 2 owners, Josie and Alice have established a nice business that you can feel comfortable going to, whether you want to get your nails or hair done, or even a massage. Check your local newspaper for coupons, they advertise pretty regularly. They also have tanning beds, but the only downfall is they do not participate in the cleaning of the beds, you are responsible for that, and I have seen dirty beds there. I recommend most services, but not really the tanning beds.

Lorna's is located on Ecorse Rd. in Allen park near Pelham. You almost miss it, it is right before a light on the right side. The shop itself is very plain and simple, but for the candy maker it is heaven. You can get a candy mold in about any shape, perfect for favors for a bridal or baby shower, they even have stuff for bachelorette parties. The chocolate is very good and very reasonable. They only accept cash, so be prepared. Christmastime is very busy at Lorna's, so shop early for your supplies, they run out of things pretty fast there. They also sell butter cream frosting by the tub full, so much better than the store bought kind!

Big Apple Bagel's is a great place to grab a bag of bagels or sit down and have a sandwich for lunch. The staff is young and seem to be enjoying their job. I like the variety of bagels they offer, they used to have a bagel of the week, I do not think they do that anymore. The parking is limited, but if you find the lot is full, the street behind the restaurant works too.

ACO Hardware has almost everything in it. I believe it could actually be a one stop shop. The one thing that I have been going there for lately is chlorine for my pool. They have the best selections on everything from lawn and garden to electrical to Froot Loops. They also put out a flyer every week with some great discounted items. Check them out!

Formally known as Brook's, this little store on Park Avenue has a lot of heart. My children think of it as a treat to walk up there to root through the penny candy looking for a bag full. The owner even thinks of the neighborhood four legged friends and has dog treats for them. This is a great family friendly store and I highly recommend it!
