After a few bids to build a specific fence, Barrier came in well below the competition. My first inclination was to pass based on the low # (you get what you pay for), but they did an amazing job, cleaned up and were fast. I know of a couple of people that were somewhat displeased with the scheduling portion (not super responsive and overbooked), but they came through with a solid end product. Definitely recommend these guys.

i'm not much of a martini drinker, but Thaiku in Ballard has a great bar that serves some of the best drinks in the city. Their Oolong-tini is a martini, but with sweet black tea and a little bit of crushed ice. i know it sounds funky, but try 3 in an hour's timespan and you'll be happy. A great cheap-eats place too---awesome thai food, but I ofcourse recommend the bar with it's great service and thai/tiki moitf....i think that's what it is...

Landmark's Metro Cinemas used to be a great place to see a flick if you didn't mind the phone booth feel. 20 years later and the seats have cigarette burns, the smell of urine and dirt, and a general depressing feeling. This could go the way fo the Northgate and UA150. Ouch.

So......we decided to take the cheapest quote and go with a "local" outfit that sounded friendly, family-owned etc. They came in cheaper than everyone else, until we got the bill which came in at $100 over the other bids from well-known companies. They showed up a day late and called at 8:30 pm to let us know they wouldn't be making it (after we had called them several times). No apologies either from the owner. Everything arrived as it was packed, but the experience was....well, you get the idea.

I'm willing to walk blocks to go to this coffeehouse, purely because the barristas are so cool. No attitude, great service, great coffee when it's not burnt, etc. Kid friendly environment. Afternoons are weak though---I'm not a big fan of people that hang out in coffeehouses for hours on end trying to get work done on their laptops and are annoyed by noise. Too many of them there in the afternoon---to all judysbook folks, join us in the morning!
