Amy dragged me into Journey's at the Flatiron Crossing Mall (first floor - near the South end) because she wanted a new pair of Vans. I wear running shoes everywhere in my effort to be retro-chic (or just geeky). The salesman and my wife convinced me to get a pair of checked Vans which are remarkably comfy (and a major upgrade to my hipness factor.)

Taigun is right around the corner from the Flatiron Crossing AMC 14 - behind the Benihana. Benihana sushi is boring / generic so it's much more interesting to go to Taigun to get a protein fix before a movie. They've got a wide range of new style sashimi and complex / unique rolls (including some awesome deep fried ones.) The service is quick and friendly, the food is fresh, and the servings are generous for your typical sushi place.

It's bizarre to go to Chinatown for Japanese food, but that's where the conceirge at XV Beacon sent us (he's either got a deal with Ginza or has the hots for the waitresses in the Japanese kimono things.)
The sushi was good, but not "spectacular" as promised (the menu was standard - kind of boring actually.) The service, however, was superb. The food came fast, it was nicely presented, and the waitress was engaging.
The price was reasonable. The decor was ok. We were happy, but not delighted.

Joe's American has been around for as long as I've known Boston (20+ years). It's got a great location on the corner of Dartmouth and Newbury Street - just about the time you are starting to get hungry on a walk that started in the Boston Common.
Joe's is a traditional steak house in the "pre-Morton's" style - New Englandy, somewhat understated, and dark wood everywhere. Service is good and quick, the place is clean, but the food is ordinary.
A first glance at the menu gives this away. You'll see a bunch of New England standards, a little variety, but nothing that requires an ounce of creativity to prepare. The kitchen stamps out the food - it's fine, but dull. Drinks flow quickly - it is a "bar & grill" after all.
Joe's is a good place to stop and fuel up if you are a Boston regular and you aren't looking for anything special. However, if you want something special, save it for one of the 100 places within a four block radius.

Clio is located at the corner of Comm Ave and Mass Ave in the Elliot Hotel. The restaurant is a nice space overlooking Mass Ave - spacious, but intimate feeling (probably because it was correctly lit for a romantic dinner.) Amy and I went with two other couples - we'd already had a snack at Figs so we weren't starving when we were seated at 8pm. We ended up with a 3 hour meal that was lovely - I started with the beet salad (awesome) and had a mescaline salad for my main course (see - I wasn't really hungry). Amy had the yellow tail tuna app and the lobster with ginger carrot puree. She loved it and managed to snarf it all down even after the Figs fig pizza extravaganza.
We had a wonderful evening with our friends, who also thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The only bummer is that the bathroom is through the hotel, down stairs, and around a corner, so the "short visits" to empty the tank after all the bottled water took a little longer than usual.

Figs - a relative of the incredible Todd English restaurant Olives - has a small location on Charles Street at the bottom of Beacon Hill. Amy and I were starving for a snack at 5pm on Friday since dinner wasn't until 8pm. We walked from our hotel (15 Beacon) down Beacon Street, turned right on Charles, and ran into Figs. We were seated immediately and ordered a pizza with gorgonzola and figs and a mac and cheese with orzo noodles. Our waitress was great - funny and friendly. The food came quickly and was just awesome. The pizza was a top 10 pizza experience and the Mac and Cheese made me forget that the world beating Mac and Cheese at The Federalist was no more. If you want a quick, casual, gourmet snack, this is the spot.

Mistral was great. The restaurant is comfortable - even though it was full, I had a business dinner with a friend and we felt like we had plenty of privacy. The food is very good - the executive chef is the same as several other Boston restaurants, including The Federalist. The menu has nice variety - all with a Med flair - but upscale / fancy. Service was great - the waitstaff was attentive but not over bearing. It was on the expensive side, but worth it.

The B-Side Lounge is in the building that the Windsor Tavern was in forever on the corner of Hampshire and Windsor Street near Kendall Square. It's a dark bar / dinner. Service was quick, the menu was typical bar food, but the portions were huge and good enough. The bar filled up nicely with a young, hip scene that was clearly looking for a casual / divey place to hang out. Nothing "special", but fun, hip, and good energy for a warm spring night.

I never went to Antonio's when I lived in Boston, but I passed it numerous times. I'm running the Boston Marathon on Monday and went with Amy and my friends Warren and Ilana (Ilana is running the Marathon also this year.) It was packed, noisy, but delicious. The food is authentic northern Italian - large servings, but simple dishes, plenty of garlic, and extremely tasty. Even though the restaurant was packed and noisy, the waiters were great and the food came out quickly. Highly recommended.

The Med is one of the mainstays of the downtown Boulder restaurant scenes. It's always busy - partly because it's one of the only upscale Boulder restaurants that is inexpensive enough for the college crowd. The food is consistently great - a wide variety of tapas and mediterranian / Italian entrees - with the occassional special. The waitstaff is young, energetic, and consistently friendly - this is clearly a fun place to work even though it's always intensely busy. The scene is great - crowded, yet not annoyingly so, dynamite food, good wine list, and - well - low prices for the quality you are getting.
