We watched the Miami Heat beat the Dallas Mavericks 101-100 in overtime tonight in game 5 of the NBA Finals. Lazy Dog was the perfect place to watch it - TV's everywhere (most of them HDTV), solid sports bar food (excellent nachos, excellent burgers), comfy seating, and friendly waitstaff who is willing to let you sit in one spot for three hours. When we showed up in the first quarter at about 7:15pm, the place was quiet. When the game went into overtime, the place was packed with college kids having a great time. We'll be back.

The Broker Inn does a classic Sunday brunch (tons of food, omlette station, peel and eat shrimp, loads of chocolate dessert.) They did a special bar-b-que thing for Father's Day which was mostly lost on me since I'm a vegetarian. My folks were in town so we had a great Father's Day, the food was plentiful, but the scene was a little dark and tired feeling. The food is average to good - nothing bad, but nothing special.
The Broker has been doing the same drill on Sunday's for a long time (it was unchanged from the last time we went a few years ago), but if you are looking for a food orgy for a big group on a Sunday bruch, this is a pretty good choice.

Imagine our surprise when - in search of massive amounts of Chocolate Ice Cream, we discovered that the Coldstone Creamery on the Pearl Street Mall had closed. Oh well.

We took my parents here for their 43rd anniversary last night. Amy and I hadn't been to Full Moon Grill in five years - it used to be one of our favorite restaurants and I think we had just burned out on it.
The scene was unchanged from five years ago and while the menu was updated, several of our old favorites (like the pear, gorganzola, and polenta salad) were still on the menu. Dinner was fantastic - the service was great, the food excellent, and the setting extremely comfortable. We lingered until the end of the evening and as we walked out, noticed the previously full restaurant was empty.
We had a great time - highly recommended.

They had free high speed internet, a good work area, and nice stereo / TV setups. Overall, it was great.

Abbocacator is not your standard italian faire. The dishes are definitely high end and prepared thoughfully. I had beet ravioli's - they were spectacular. The side of polenta was a butter transport mechanism; the side of spinach was excellent. Service was friendly and quick; the restaurant was comfortable. We sat by the french doors which were open to 55th Street - it was a mellow Sunday night - perfect weather. Overall, we had a great time.

I had a great breakfast - I disagree with EMS's review. It was a beautiful sunny Chicago early summer day (June). We sat outside. The service was fine - the food came quickly and was delicious. I had a white spinach omlette with cheese grits - the cheese grits were exactly as I expected. My breakfast meeting was nice - we were comfortable and isolated enough not to be distracted by others, but we didn't feel alone. All in all, a very fun place.

I arrived at midnight. I was faced by a security entrance and a desk guard who seemed distracted. After a few minutes, I managed to get passed him and took the elevators up to the lobby. The night desk guy was nice and helpful - he processed me quickly. But - it was midnight, the place felt shabby, they were cleaning (vacuum cleaners everywhere.) I went up to my room. It was fine - clean, comfortable, and relatively quiet. But - there was nothing at all to distinguish it. I went to sleep - woke up at the appointed time - and went to my meeting.

We went and watched the Yankees vs. the Oakland A's last night. I'd never been to Yankee Stadium - my dad and my uncle grew up in the Bronx and went regularly. My uncle took me - we had spectacular seats five rows up between home and first. I got chills when I walked in the ballpark and looked around - you can really feel the history from 1923 of this place. It's a shame that they are tearing it down in a few years to replace it with a new ballpark - if you haven't had a chance to go to it, make sure you do before it goes away.
In the expensive seats, they actually have an automated ordering system for food. The "orders" wander around with wireless devices taking your order. The food shows up in a few minutes brought by a separate person. The company that does this is called CenterPlate - very swank.
