Incredible Traditional Northern Italian Food 6/24/2006

We had an outstanding meal at Barolo last night with friends from the Denver Art Museum. The restaurant setting is nice - comfortable / casual but upscale, with great light from the wall of windows facing the street. We had a large table (there were seven of us), but we didn't feel out of place or notice anyone else in the restaurant even thought the place was packed. The food is upscale northern Italian - a traditional multi-stage meal (appetizer, salad, pasta, main dish, dessert.) The pacing was perfect - the food was delicious. I had a prawn and fried baby artichoke salad, green salad with goad cheese, and pasta with mushrooms and truffles. I finished up with a yellow blossom tea - I was too full for dessert. While we don't drink wine, they claim to have the third largest Italian wine list in the US. Several other folks with us were wine drinkers - they all seemed to havea great time. more
