I have to say I am constantly amazed when friends tell me they take visitors to Underground. WHAT? I mean, the location is nice being that it's near the Capitol but Underground itself is very boring if you ask me. Yes there are stores and restaurants but only a few decent ones which can be found in other and better places. Dantes is good for Fondue and environment but go to the one on Piedmont. They have a Gap and Body Shop but they have those at Lenox plus a hundred other stores and better people watching if you ask me. Avoid this place.

This was a blast to go to when I was in high school. The tour itself is a little boring for that age group but still provided a lot of historical information about CNN. It still amazes me that such a major news station comes right out Atlanta. The tour shows lets you look at the actual studios and even play around sitting at your own anchor desk and lets you try out the weather map. Apparently I'm no weather girl in the making.

I enjoyed my time at the Coca Cola museum but have to say I felt a little ripped off paying to see Coke commercials and other memorabilia displayed. However, once I got over that...it was fun. I was amazed at how many of the commercials I remembered and what times of my life they brought up. My girlfriends and I were singing and having a great time. They also have a room where you can have Coke fly through the air and 'land' in your cup which was cool as an adult so would be a great treat for kids. Finally, a room with different Coke products from all over the world. Interesting to try Peach but some were just too nasty even to try.

Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is an amazing thing to have in your city. As a parent, you always worry about the what ifs and having Children's Healthcare here makes those worries much easier because you know you have a world class hospital where your child would be taken care of by the best in pediatric medicine. Luckily I haven't had to take my son for anything life threatening but in my one experience there, I felt very comforted and my son was treated with nothing but utmost care.

Atlanta weather being what it is, I'm always looking for something (anything) to do with my son when the weather isn't cooperating. Fernbank is reasonably priced and has plenty for even the youngest toddlers to enjoy. The current Grossology exhibit is just one example of wonderful things for the kids. They can play with snot and do all sorts of disgusting things that they absolutely adore.

Do not use this place unless it's a first haircut and you will be taking lots of pictures. I will happily admit that this place is absolutely adorable. They are located in a little renovated house covered in knicknacks and bubbles blowing out front. The inside has a room filled with toys for the waiting kids which is great since you will more than likely be in there for a very long time. They don't take reservations and are usually extremely busy. I took my son for his first haircut at 10 months and we had to wait around 45 minutes in the middle of a weekday. YIKES! The haircuts take place in adorable antique cars or planes where the kids sit and play while they get the haircut. However, our stylist was done so fast we hardly had time to take a picture. The cut was twenty dollars and of course tip wasn't included. The haircut was REALLY bad and we had to find another place to fix it. It's not bad if you look at it as a picture backdrop but definitely not a place to go regularly.

This was not my son's first pediatrician but I was not happy with our first and decided to start surveying moms at the park. Children's Medical Group came up over and over so I finally decided to try them. Within minutes of sitting down in the waiting room I knew why this place was so popular. The waiting rooms were clearly separated between sick and well kids and had plenty of things to keep the kids occupied. The nurses were very smiley with the kids and spent the time asking them questions. My doctor came in and was warm and very knowledgeable. I have since had to see a few of the other doctors and have been every bit as pleased with each of them. This place is the best. They answer questions on the nurse line quickly and have pleasant, non-judgmental after hour help as well.

What a treasure for pasta lovers. Pasta Da Pulcinella is in a former house and has the feel of being in someone's home for a party. Very warm and inviting with low lighting that's perfect for a date. They have a nice wine list and a full bar which always helps. :)
The pasta is absolutely amazing and really is worth the trip. My favorite is their apple sausage ravioli which is pasta shaped like apples stuffed with ricotta cheese, apples and sausage served with a brown butter sage sauce. Unbelievably good. One friend says she thinks it's a little too sweet and goes for the mushroom stuffed ravioli (shaped like mushrooms of course). The meal was truly one to savor and enjoy. Highly recommend.

This is the perfect wine store for amatuers or expers. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable but NEVER makes you feel pressured to buy or stupid for asking any question. The selection is incredible and includes wines from under ten dollars to hundreds of dollars a bottle. They have descriptions of the wines available if you don't want to talk to a clerk. They also have wine tastings on every Saturday (usually between 2 and 4) where you can go and taste free wines and learn what you like without busting the bank. They are generous with their time and with the wine so it's a fun afternoon to spend with friends even. Good location.

Stone Mountain Park is virtually unheard of outside of the South but truly a gem. It's one of the first places we take any out of town visitors as we know there is pretty much something to please anyone. First, there's Stone Mountain itself. The huge granite mountain with the largest granite carving in the world on top. It's of civil war soldiers on horseback. At night in the summer, they have an amazing laser show on the mountain that is true family fun.
Secondly, there are a million other things to do at the park. There is shopping, miniture and regular golf, an antebellom mansion to explore, water activities, a petting zoo, and a huge indoor park for kids to play around in. You can simply go for the mountain (which you can hike or take a trolley to the top) and pay one price for your carload of visitors or buy passes (individual or all day inclusive) for all the other myriad of activities. A definite must do.
