I love the idea of the Book Nook. I am an avid reader who isn't a huge fan of the library system available to me. Therefore, I end up buying almost all the books I read. This ends up being very costly so the idea of being able to buy books at a cheaper cost AND being able to sell my own books is great. The Book Nook sells books, cds, and comics for 60% of their cover price. I have found many books that are still on the best sellers list and look brand new. You also can find some older books with much cheaper cover prices which end up being quite the bargain. The Book Nook then will buy any book they think will sell from you for 30% of the cover price. It's not a ton but better than you'd get at a garage sale and a lot less work than Ebay.

Walking into this restaurant made me feel much hipper than normal. I went for a girls night out and we were all dressed up and ready to relax. This was definitely the right place. The atmosphere is very trendy. Great artwork, modern decor and a HUGE rotisserie in the middle of the room. I think it's around 14 feet high but very cool. We sat outside on the patio and got to watch the sunset over the city which was quite stunning.
Okay, onto the food. It was so good that we kept tasting each others trying to figure out if anything wasn't fantastic. The salmon chips are great as an appetizer but I heartily recommend the Prime rib for your entrée. They use the rotisserie and the meat is done perfectly. Crispy on the outside but fork tender inside. Very nice. For dessert we got the mini cupcakes with gelato. We were already pretty stuffed but it was good enough to gorge. Overall a pricey but great meal. Perfect for impressing someone.

I had never heard of this restaurant until a girlfriend recommended it and I am very thankful she did. This is a really great place that I can take my 2 1/2 year old to early enough in the evening or take my husband for a 'hot date' later. Fairly modern decorations with paintings from local artists on the wall. The wine list is fairly extensive and the can help you with pairing questions. The real star is the food. Superb! The portions are huge so you eat family style. My favorite meal is the Rigatoni with Vodka sauce which is just to die for! The food is extremely reasonably priced so we usually (okay, always) splurge for the 5 layered chocolate cake with rasberry sauce. I drool just thinking about it! Delish!

This little hole in the wall may not jump out at you but it's worth finding. It's located on Clairmont Road right off I-85 across from Sams Club. It's a charming little French restaurant with a very homey feel. The wait staff is very kind and I got the impression that most of the customers were regulars. I know word of mouth is their main advertisement. The rolls are fantastic, the portions are quite large and the drinks are not skimpy. I recommend the Chicken breast stuffed with goat cheese and garlic. YUM!
One night of the week (I think Tuesday) they usually have bottles of wine for half price.

This place is a treasure in the middle of the city. A friend turned me on to Hastings first as a place to take my 2 year old as an activity. At first I was a little hesitant but found she was right. They have free popcorn, birds, ponds w/ fish and turtles and a train track with little village for the kids. That being said, they also have an incredibly knowledgeable staff who can help you with gardening questions and offer suggestions for plant needs. I think their plants are of unparalleled quality and have never been unhappy with the results I have gotten from their plants. The prices are a little higher than your Lowes or Home Depot but are worth it.

My family lives right down the road from this restaurant and ends up eating there once or twice a month. It is a very kid-friendly place with fun 50's inspired decorations and a great staff. The food runs the gammet from amazing breakfasts all day long (I recommend the belgian waffle pancakes with strawberries grilled in them) to burgers, sandwiches and other food for the rest of the day. The portions are huge but most dishes have a half-portion option. My husband loves the maple salmon served over sweet potato hash. The half order is a normal restaurant's full and costs well under $10. Dessert is the best part of the meal as they have a full line of cakes and pies (which we have been disapointed in most of the time) along with a full ice cream line. We love the shakes and banana splits. YUMMY and a welcome addition to the Northlake area.

I recently came to Loca Luna on a Girl's Night Out and man did we have a great time! There was a live band playing on one side of the restaurant so we ate out by the big fountain/pond on the other side. The drinks were yummy (great Mojitos) but the food was the star. We ordered five or six tapas to start out with and shared amongst ourselves. I highly recommend the spareribs and fish. We got the Maduros as a quasi-dessert and ended up ordering another one. It's ripe plantains that are fried up and served sweet with a light cream sauce. YUMMY! I highly recommend this place for a fun night out. The more people, the more food you can order and sample.

I have been going to Van Michaels salon for well over a year and have never been unhappy with my services. As soon as you walk in the door you are greeted and asked if you need something to drink. The building is modern and very light. This location has a new talent division which has haircuts starting at $25 and highlights at around $65. They also have some extremely talented 'real' stylists who regularly travel in order to perfect their techniques.
The salon uses and sells Aveda products and has eyebrow/makeup people as well. Very good salon.

With that said, I was somewhat dragged to a game with friends and was definitely suprised to see what a good time I had in a stadium as a non-sports person. Turner field had fantastic choices for food and drinks (not just your hot dogs and beer). They just put up a HUGE high definition screen that has fun little 'shows' to keep you entertained. They also have a new area for little kids that utilizes cartoon characters and is great fun.
Oh, and i've been told they play some darn fine baseball as well. Just in case you're into that sort of thing.

If you want to visit a stunning building that will make even a so so performance memorable, come to the Fox Theatre.
A historic landmark in Atlanta, the Fox is a place where locals attend proms, fundraisers, opera, plays and watch movies. The building is beautiful and walking in makes you feel as though you've stepped back into the 'Old South'.
Some advice - come early in order to find an open lot to park in. Sometimes you'll be lucky but I have had to walk what felt like miles before. Also, if you are a female you might want to skip a pre-performance drink as the lines to the ladies room during any intermission are unbelievably long.
