The best and cheapest sushi in NY

Tuesday, August 16, 2005
I love this place! Tomoe has the freshest, tastiest and cheapest sushi in Manhattan! Tomoe is located in the West Village near Houston Street (and Soho) and right next door to Mario Batali's Lupa. The food is remarkably good for such a bare bone establishment. The toro is mouth-watering and like butter and a fraction of the cost of Nobu and other high-quality sushi places. I'd give it a perfect rating except the place is tiny and the waits can be very long with people lined up outside for hours. Also, the waiters (especially the women) can be kind of surly and rude. But it's worth it to dine here. My tip? You must arrive before 6:30 (that means your entire party because you won't be seated unless everyone is present) to get a seat and not have to wait.
