Ardenwood Farm generally isn't too thrilling for grown-ups. It's basically a picnic grounds and historical famrhouse. But for kids this is a whole different story. There are a number of different famr animals, and some you can even get close to! They let the fowl (chickens, turkeys, roosters and peacocks) run around so you can get as close as you like. This provides hours of entertainment for your smallest critics. On weekend special events can provide some more fun, but the admission price rises accordingly.

My big plroblem with this place is price. Youch! They want hundreds of dollars just to sign up and then hundreds more every month as your fee! This place is only worth it if you plan to spend a *lot* of time here and make it your entertainment destination of choice for the whole family.

This is one *big* sporting goods store. For a single store (not a chain) it is one of the biggest stores I have ever seen! You can certainly find whatever sport you are interested in here, and the appropriate accessories and equipment are available.
Prices go from okay to good, depending on product and time of year, and their end of season clearances are very good. My biggest complaint is that they aren't very convenient to the highway.

I'm the first to admit that Fremont Swim School is expensive. A summer's worth of lessons adds up to about $200 per child. But it is such a great place that we keep going back (Newark location).
The weater is always *very* warm (and I know because I aprticipate with my kids in the Tiny Tots class) and is not at all intimidating for kids to get into. The pool itself is between 3 and 5 weet deep with long, wide stairs to get in so that children can get acclimated all on their own. The teachers have always been top rate. There is a great observation area for parents to watch their children during the classes. Multiple classes are going at the same time so you can have 2 children in 2 different age groups taking classes at once.
Outside of cost, my complaints would be the lack of real changing rooms and that lately some of the classes are getting overcrowded. But the good certainly outweighs the bad here,

This new aquatic center in Newark is a great place to take the kids on free swim days. They provide life jackets for even the smallest swimmers so everyone floats and Mom can supervise from a little further away (although supervision is of course mandatory). There is a gretat play structure with slides and water cannons in the middle of a shallow pool and the little ones love this! There is also a full fledged waterslide for the bigger kids, and a current ring for all.
For families, they have woinderful family dressing rooms with lots of space, a private shower and bathroom. This is definitely a good place to occupy your kids on a hot summer day!

Dr. Haw is a very nice guy and a good opthamologist. He knows what he is doing and is personable enough to be able to discuss your eye health iwth you without seeming dry or lecturing. He is patient with children and doesn't mind dealing with the ones who are a little more active.
When I needed a special prescription for contact lenses he negotiated with my insurance company on my behalf to get more money for me to try multiple trail pairs to see which one suited me best. He also is vey helpful in aiding patients in selecting glasses in his attached frames store while not pushing them to go out of their budget.
Dr. Haw is a good, all round eye doctor.

Dr. Amendola visited my son a few times in the hospital after he was born and I have also seen her a few times when our regular doctor at her pediatric practice was booked.
She is always cheery and interested in me and my children. She asks lots of questions and doesn't just jump to a diagnosis. She is also just a lot of fun to talk to about any motherhood/medical issues that come up during the visit. She empathizes well with new/young mothers and the stress they are under.

Dr. Dobbs is both a wonderful pediatrician and a caring mother. It is this second quality that makes her so special! She understands the sleepless hell new Moms go through, not to mention nursing issues and many of those other things that can so stress out a new Mom during her baby's first year.
She is always willing to answer as many questions as I have, even if she has other patients waiting. She will give a full, detailed explanation instead of just brushing me off because this is not in her 'schedule'.
She is also conscious of the great variation in childrens' development and does not make you feel inadequate if your child is a little late reaching a certain milestone.
Dr. Dobbs is my favorite doctor (and she's not even technically *my* doctor)!

Okay, I'll admit that I'm one of those women who generaly wants a female OB/Gyn, but Dr. Kramer is really a terrific doctor. He has a fun, easy manner and doesn't make women feel embarrassed that they are discussing intimate things with a man.
When I delivered my second child he was the on-call doctor from my medical practice and he made me feel comfortable and eased my stress at going into labor in the middle of the night. He made everything seem quick and easy while chatting with my husband to help him feel more at home in the delivery room.
Dr. KRamer also performed my son's circumcision and he was both quick and solicitous of my son's physical comfort and my emotional comfort (since I was a witness to the operation). I strongly recommend Dr. Kramer, even if you normally prefer female OBs.

Dr. Aleman is fantastic! She delivered my first child when I gave birth on a holiday, and was my primary OB during my second pregnancy. Although she was not on call when I went into labor with my second child in the middle of the night she made it a point to visit me the next morning and see how I was doing.
Dr. Aleman is very compassionate and understands what pregnant women are going through. She offers competent, gentle advice and helps with what can be an exciting and stressful time. I strongly recommend her to all expectant Moms!
