The park grounds are very nicely landscaped. There is a concession stand for snacks. There are also picnic areas in the park. A nice place.

Our son attended Learning Star Preschool for a year when he was four years old. I particularly liked this school because they did not charge you an arm and a leg if you wanted to have care on a part time basis like Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Most places will not let you do this without paying almost as much as full time. They also has Spanish classes which our son enjoyed. During the summer they have summer camp. They have a lot of fun activities and field trips in the summer. They go swimming, to the movies and they even had a day when the kids can wear their PJs and watch movies in their room. The Christmas program and the graduation ceremonies were all out gala affairs. (Special costumes and everything).

This place has great barbecue and a great homey atmosphere. All the tables are usually full here at lunch time. You usually only have to wait a short time to get a table. The staff is wonderful, always cracking some kind of joke. They have daily specials and the Brunswick stew is always delicious. They serve sandwiches and plates with vegetables. There are always complementary hush puppies served as you are seated.

The Calico Pony is a consignment shop where you can buy or sell used children's items. They do not sell any clothes with rips or spots. They also sell children's equipment like strollers, highchairs and furniture. This is a higher end thrift shop and so the prices are higher than the Goodwill. They will sell your items for a commission.

My husband and I go to Cary Garden Center when we really need some good quality permanent landscaping items. Almost all the shrubs we have bought from the Cary Garden Center over the years have survived. Some of them have gotten larger than specified on their tags. The garden center is a fun place to shop. You get to pull a wagon around to collect your purchases. They have a pretty wide selection of plants. They also sell plant food and other supples but we get them at the larger home stores. We usually don't talk to the staff at the center but I would suspect that they are quite knowledgeable. They are a pretty expensive place for plants but I guess you get what you pay for.

We always have a good time at Silver Lake Water Park. They have a nice lake with a beach for sunbathing. There is also a concession stand that sells ice cream, hot dogs and such. There is a very large water slide that you can ride. They also have some small motorized raft like boats that you can ride ( away from swimmers). There is a special shallow section for small children. There are some picnic tables set up a little ways from the lake where you can eat. Sometimes park staff dress up as large furry animals and once I think they put on a magic show. All in all, a fun place. I think you can buy season passes as well as one day admission passes.

Soccer Dome America is a wonderful place. My son has participated in their Stepping Stones pre-league program twice. He has also attended their summer day camps. He even had his last birthday party at the Soccer Dome. Their staff and coaches are the greatest. They really care about the kids. All our experiences at the Soccer Dome have been positive. It is especially nice that children can get such good exercise during the winter months. They also offer upper division league play and they rent the fields out to other teams. The only negatives about the place are that the summer camp program only runs from Monday to Thursday and their prices are a bit high.

Dorcas thrift shop is one of my favorite hangouts. I love to browse through their changing inventory. The shop is staffed by volunteers. They are open from 9AM to 2 PM Monday through Friday and Saturday from 10AM to 2PM. Sometimes the Dorcas shop has specials which are advertised on the board as you come in the door. Sometimes they have half off their already low prices on furniture, bicycles or something like that. The Dorcas organization helps out people in need in the community with the proceeds from their store. They also accept donations around the back of the store. They will give you a tax receipt for your donation.

Life Experiences is a nice thrift shop located a bit off the beaten path in Morrisville. I have been there twice and both times I was the only shopper. The shop is adjacent to some sort of sheltered workshop of training center for mentally handicapped individuals. They are relatively small compared to thrift shops such as goodwill. But they have a good selection of clothing, books, toys and puzzles. The people who run the shop are very friendly and the prices are quite reasonable. There is a price list you need to refer to to find out how much things cost. If you shop here you get a good feeling for helping out a good cause.
