The merchandise at Louis Shanks is very nice, and probably has the best selection of high end furnishings (available to the general public) in Austin. However, the prices are outrageous! We have decided that the prices here are retail + markup. Yes, they have sales, but then you are just paying retail. You really can buy the same furniture elsewhere for less, if you do a little hunting.

We have been so impressed with Dr. Singletary and her associates. They make going to the dentist a stress free, enjoyable experience for the children. Everyone is so friendly, and the facility is so nice (even equipped with video games in the waiting room). My 3 year old son had to have a couple of major--well, major in my opinion--things done, and he's still not afraid of the dentist. We are very happy and look forward being with this practice for many years!

Yes, Whole foods can be a bit pricier than Central Market or HEB, but NOWHERE else in Austin can you find a grocery where you can be confident that everything you are buying is all natural with no added chemicals, preservatives, etc. They just don't allow it at WF. The employees are friendly, customer service is a priority, and WF is an generally very pleasant place to shop. Be sure to visit their pre-made foods case. There are so many yummy meals to choose from!

On the referral of a friend, I tried Ivory Cleaners, especially when I saw the sign for 75 cent laundered shirts in the window. I took a bunch of my husbands shirts in, and when I picked them up, they looked like they had been slept in! In fact, they were so wrinkled, I had to either press them myself, or have them re done at my usual cleaners. Needless to say, I was not impressed and will not be returning to Ivory Cleaners.

I have ordered numerous times, and the flowers are always beautiful...and at a fair price. I have been continually impressed with King Florist and will continue using them, whenever I need flowers delivered.

Our personal favorite is the Veggie Burger. I am a firm believer that theirs is the BEST in Austin.
They also have excellent shakes from their old-fashioned soda fountain...Ymmm!

The food is excellent, the prices are fair, and there's not a long wait (you order at the counter and seat your self). Everything I've ever ordered has been excellent, and the salads and sandwiches are especially good.
I think the atmosphere is great here. It's perfect for a lunch with friends, a business lunch, or even a lunch with the kids in tow. It can get crowded for lunch on weekdays, but things still move pretty fast, and is well worth it.

This was one of my favorite local stores to shop while I was pregnant. They have the most beautiful custom bedding--design your own--darling accessories for baby and baby's room and sweet baby gifts. This store is a pregnant woman's dream. Beware--it is difficult to visit this store without spending a lot of money if you have a little one or a little one on the way. It is addictive. The staff and owner are VERY friendly and helpful. There is also a really great Maternity boutique in the back of the store.

As much as I love Sandy's Shoes for their great selection of children's shoes, that is not the main reason I shop there. I will only buy children's shoes at Sandy's because of the customer service....
As much as I love Sandy's Shoes for their great selection of children's shoes, that is not the main reason I shop there. I will only buy children's shoes at Sandy's because of the customer service. I think that this shoe store has the nicest and most knowlegeable employees. I feel that my children always get the best shoe fittings, which allows them to get the most wear out of their shoes. Sure I might be able to find shoes elsewhere for a bit less, but I won't get the expert advice on fitting my children's feet.
Sandy's also has the best variety of shoes and the hippest brands in Austin. I love their shoes and won't shop anywhere else.

It feels like a break for me! My kids stay entertained the whole time, and we don't have to be outside in the Austin heat. We take our own lunches and make a day (ok, morning) out of it.
